I think Taremi played for the red card, he didn't back his pace. It was the right decision. But I thought Taremi looked very tired and slow in the end and should have been brought off.

The offside rule has become ridiculous. I don't get why body parts that play no role in the game should outrule a goal. If anything, football needs more goals, not fewer.

Anyone familiar with football (and sports for that matter) understands that freak results sometimes occur. This was one of the greatest freak results not only during this World Cup but in World Cup history.

If you take a closer look at the statistics of that game you would realize that Spain should have scored 4-5 goals if you look at the stats, XG, shots on goal, possession etc. Despite having played a very bad game for their standards. After all footballers are not robots, they can have a bad day.

On any other given normal day, Cape Verde would lose to Spain by 5/4-0 or more.

This Cape Verde team are no pushovers either. Almost all of their players are playing in Europe and they topped their World Cup qualifying group.

We will see how they do against Uruguay later tonight.

Mind you the first games in a World Cup and tournament often have their own life. It was also a Spain team without their best player (Yamal - one of the best players in the world already despite being 18 years old).

There is a reason why Spain was the World Cup favorite with France before the tournament and why they are still favorites among the bookmakers.

No sane person, expert, most football fans, would never claim that Belgium and Spain are comparable or that Belgium is as strong as Spain let alone better. Nothing points to that. Not the players, not the results, not the historical accomplishments or present accomplishments. Or form. It's that simple, really.

Also, lots of Iranian players in our current squad used to play in Europe previously. Sardar Azmoun, Jahanbakhsh, Ezatollahi, Milad Mohammadi, among many others.
