Yeah, Turkey has the best players overall but not the best team. Sometimes football is not kind to you.
 
Last ten minutes should be pandemonium. Uruguay are desperate to win as they have Spain in the last game.

@_Arabia_ a draw today suits KSA. But of course, you will need to beat Cape Verde and they will only need to draw against you. Could be one heck of a match that!

You are right. Actually it looks like it does not matter whether Uruguay wins or draws.

We would need to win against Cape Verde either way.

However it becomes harder with a draw IMO because Cape Verde can play for a draw in the last game as that would ensure that they will have 3 points. That should be enough to qualify regardless of the Spain-Uruguay result.

Anyway as I wrote, whatever happens in this World Cup is just a bonus. The more important one will be the one in Spain, Portugal and Morocco in 4 years time and the World Cup in 2034 that KSA is going to host. Most of the current lot will likely not even play in 2034.

The surprise of the World Cup so far.

I think that I wrote in this thread before the Spain-Cape Verde game that they are no pushovers. However even I was surprised by their resilience, fight and overall play.

Drawing with Spain the way they did, ok, could be a freak result, but drawing against Uruguay next and scoring 2 goals, it is no longer a coincidence.

The Arabian horse/leopard/lion/eagles really need to attack those blue sharks seriously to have a chance.
 
Uruguay really shot themselves in the foot. Those two goals should never have been conceded in the first place. They were completely avoidable.
 
In any case it would be some story if KSA could defeat Cape Verde as the only team. Spain failed and now Uruguay. I don't see it happening but you never know.

I did not watch the game, just followed the game on Flashscore. Was it a repeat of Spain-Cape Verde? In other words should Uruguay have won the game based on chances created etc.?

Disappointed by Uruguay so far. They have a great team on paper and a great manager (Bielsa) but somehow they have failed to impress. If they don't win or at least draw against Spain they could get eliminated.

I did not watch the game, just followed the game on Flashscore. Was it a repeat of Spain-Cape Verde? In other words should Uruguay have won the game based on chances created etc.?

Cape Verde actually played well. Their first goal was a brilliant strike, but Uruguay's wall was also atrocious. And the second, well...

In all seriousness, it will be difficult judging by the pathetic defensive performance against Spain but on the other hand stranger things have occurred. But it would be hilarious if we did it seeing that both Spain and Uruguay failed of all teams. And if we fail I will be happy that a team and underdog like Cape Verde will advance.

As I wrote our focus should be the World Cup in 2030 and in 2034 when we are going to host it. Our current squad (many injuries and some of the best players left out completely inexplicably) and useless temporary manager is not going to do much even if we advance to the knockout rounds. We will probably play some top team and go out anyway.

I don't see Spain losing to Uruguay maybe it ends in a tie but depending which match is first Uruguay will have to depend on Saudi Arabia not losing.
