It’s by far the best I’ve seen the US on the attack. Technical ability, passing, overlapping runs etc.

Our defense and goaltending isn’t great. Overall depth of the team is still poor compared to top countries.

This team can make the quarterfinals and may even give Spain a scare. I certainly don’t trust we’ll get there though.

I truly feel the US is on the cusp of becoming a consistent top 10 country in the sport.

The breadth of sports American men can choose from and develop lucrative careers has certainly hurt the development of our national men’s team historically.

It’s a different case for American women. The only team sport that compares lucratively is basketball. It’s why they’ve seen so much more success than the men’s side. More talent is funneled towards soccer
