The hostility against Moroccans and Turks in the Netherlands cannot be overstated. There are large Moroccan and Turkish communities in the country, both of which fiercely love their nations.

The Dutch were already anticipating a clash with Morocco even before the group stage finished. Many Dutch pundits, celebrities, and ex football players had already written off Morocco against the Netherlands, expecting the Dutch team to win easily. However, anyone who watches football closely knows that the Moroccan team has been on a massive rise over the past few years. Many Moroccan players now compete at the highest level in Europe.

Back in the day, many top Moroccan players used to refuse to play for the Moroccan national team due to disunity and disorganisation. Morocco has made massive changes since then. There is now structure, organisation and unity. As a result, almost all young Moroccan players in European countries now want to represent their country at the highest level. Even France was recently rejected by a top Moroccan talent who chose to play for the Moroccan team instead.

What the Dutch witnessed here was a complete shattering of arrogance. You can never write off your opponent and take a massive victory for granted. Morocco is currently a major football powerhouse, capable of defeating any top European national team. Morocco is the best football nation within the entire Islamic world.

Well Egypt export players to Europe like Salah to Liverpool , Neni to Arsenal , Hamzah to Barcelona, marmoush to man city , etc.

have you ever seen a player who was born in Europe plays for Egypt? well only 2 in the history of Egypt hassan now who plays for real ovideo and previously adam el abd and that was many years ago.

Major League Baseball has a considerable number of foreign-born players as well. I see no issue with it so why would there be an issue with soccer?

Oh Oliver the US was selected to host the WC with support from Canada and Mexico because of the 48 teams it was always meant to be a US event.

Still no reason IMO why at least a couple of the WC quarterfinal matches aren't held in Mexico or Canada. Especially in Mexico City or Monterrey. Simply outstanding venues with crowd attendance that rivals the US stadiums.

And, can someone tell me how the President of FIFA is managing to attend at least 2 matches per day?

Usual repugnant behaviour of football fans in several European countries, UK is similar. Other sports, e.g. cricket, rugby, are not like this.

Koeman resigns, while Netherlands report racist abuse

Ronald Koeman has resigned as Netherlands manager after their World Cup exit.

The news came as it emerged earlier on Tuesday that Dutch players who missed penalties were racially abused online.

Koeman's side were knocked out by Morocco in a last-32 shootout after a 1-1 draw in Monterrey.

Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber and Crysencio Summerville all missed their efforts and were subjected to discriminatory, racist and hateful comments on social media, said the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB).

Koeman, 63, has stepped down from his second spell in charge of the national side and hinted that he may have ended his managerial career altogether.

That is a non-issue for me. These players will set the precedent for better players in Morocco itself. For Morocco there is no going back now.
