FIFA World Cup 2026

I don't see how Morocco played "bad" in objective terms. They can't go great guns for 90 mins every single game. Some days they have to absorb pressure and counter attack when the opposition is tired and vulnerable. I think they played today perfectly and have matured into a world beating team. They are a level above any other African or Arab team and have developed into a "tournament team" because of this maturity.

Canada weren't clinical in the first
half, every chance matters now pal. 2nd half Morocco had extra played better.

My comment was made when it was still 1–0 and was mostly based on the first half. Precisely this shows Morocco's maturity and class. Even when they are having an off day for large parts of the game (by their standards in recent years), they are able to weather the storm and keep their composure. Many other Arab teams under similar pressure would have conceded and likely "given up" afterwards.

But this is what success and experience breed (in any field). As well as top level European football education.

All Moroccan players were born in Europe and spent their formative footballing years there and continue to play there with none of them ever playing in the local league. Not a coincidence.

Take the same players (talents) from any Arab nation (that qualified for the World Cup at least) and put them in a similar environment (European leagues and European football upbringing) and they would be performing much better overall as a collective.

Morocco is the superior Arab team nowadays but the gap is not as huge as many would want to believe.

True. Perhaps Morocco were willing to ease off most of this match, giving Canada some opportunities, knowing they could turn on the fire for 30 minutes and take the game away from Canada?

I'm only speculating, but I have seen superior teams play in this manner in tournaments, due to a need to save some strength for the next rounds.

Consider that Canada last played on Sunday, Morocco on Tuesday, hence the Canadians were always going to be fresher today.

Morocco may have thought...let's do just about enough over 90 mins, exert ourselves for 30 mins, and most crucially avoid exhaustion and injuries and suspensions for the next round.

Of course, their strategy partially failed with the injury to Saibiri. Could be critical!

Cape Verde - team of the tournament for me.

Romero should have been sent off, 2 yellows - he was involved in the last goal to win it for the Arg.

Did any of you brothers notice Moroccans were getting fouled a lot by Canada , even though Morocco player poorly, experience got them the win.

Pieces of shit referees, always aiding western nations againt arabs/africans

Even the commentators you can sense are crying when western team is losing or lost…..

Lastly,
Thank you Morocco for sending the canadian team home. Good riddance
