Cape Verde got robbed of fair refereeing because FIFA's president is Argentina's biggest fanboy.

I speak Spanish. He did not say anything controversial at all. The translation is wrong.

The interviewer (who is clearly Argentine judging from his Spanish accent) is saying to Infantino that you have always been generous with us. Infantino replies with a thank you and hugs to all of Argentina and congratulations because ...the heart (probably wanted to say that the heart/he/fans suffered - due to how close the game was) and afterwards he said that the neutrals also suffered.

BTW just like many Arabs are often supporting Brazil and Argentina (due to the huge Arab diasporas in both countries) Italians like Infantino also naturally have a fondness for Argentina because practically half of Argentina's population have Italian ancestry or partial Italian ancestry - Messi himself included. So nothing wrong with that at all. Zero evidence of Argentina being favored by FIFA as well. Not Argentina's fault that the favorites (on paper) messed up and that they had an easier draw in the knockout stages. Not something in their control other than them winning all of their games in the group stage - which they did deservingly.

Even the commentators you can sense are crying when western team is losing or lost…..

Lastly,
Thank you Morocco for sending the canadian team home. Good riddance
Nothing new. It has always been like that. In sports and during events where money is at stake the favorite is always somehow receiving most of the 50/50 calls etc.

For instance FIFA clearly wants Portugal and Ronaldo to stay in the tournament as long as possible (good for their coffins, good for viewership etc.) and I for instance highly doubt that Portugal would have a similar goal disallowed as the one that Croatia had disallowed in the last seconds of the game.

We see this phenomenon in the Champions League as well each year, World Cup qualifiers etc. Even in Asian football (AFC Champions League - the highest football league level in Asia).

Look at how rotten sport has become because of all this gambling as well.

Betting/gambling/fixed games scandals in every sport out there.

Just like how Al-Nassr won their first league title with Ronaldo this past season. 100's of doubtful penalties for Ronaldo and Al-Nassr.

If we gonna lose to Argentina next match we shouldn't leave until we break messi's legs .. true that : )

Well at least US won't be the first host nation to be eliminated. Mexico should win because of high altitude homefield advantage as for team USA if they lose it will be a fail World Cup since they are at home and have reached round of 16 last 2 World Cups. This has to be the Round of 16 they win there's no excuses.

That French attack is unbelievable. Mbappé, Dembélé, Olise and Barcola.

If they just had a prime Thuram, Lizarazu, Blanc, Desailly, Zidane, Vieira as well, they would probably be unbeatable.

In other words that 2 man-midfield and defense is quite underwhelming compared to the brutal attack.

Will be fascinating to see if this attacking line can unlock the 5 man defensive line of Paraguay in 36 degrees heat. A genuine test.

I think that they will find a way. But I would not be surprised if they will have a harder time against Paraguay than Morocco. Not because Paraguay are a better team but because Morocco will play a much more open game and they are worse than Paraguay when it comes to pure low-block defending. Also the weather is a big factor as you rightly mentioned. The heat and humidity is brutal now.

Most intrigued about how they would do against Spain in a possible semifinal if both teams go that far.

Spain will likely take the lead in terms of keeping possession and dictating most of the play. France will try to punish them on the counter with their devastatingly quick and technically gifted attack. Against a fairly fragile Spanish defense. Some matchup!

The weather today favors Paraguay but on the other hand African-descended players should not suffer too much with high heat and humidity. France is not a Scandinavian team either. Many French players are used to high heat and humidity from the French, Spanish and Italian leagues.
