FIFA World Cup 2026

Surprisingly, the american team has played good football and not made many bad fouls. That is why they've earned a lot of respect. I'd support them(American) over the stupid wannabee latinos any day and even over the europeans.

USA Star Folarin Balogun Cleared To Play In World Cup Match vs. Belgium

FIFA has cleared the way for U.S. men’s national team forward Folarin Balogun to play in the USA’s World Cup round of 16 match against Belgium in Seattle on Monday, multiple sources confirmed to us Sunday. The news was first reported by The Athletic.

Balogun — who scored the game-winning goal in last week's round of 32 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina — was shown a controversial red card later in the match, triggering an automatic one-game suspension.

But under FIFA‘s own protocols, the play should not have been flagged to Brazilian referee Raphael Claus by the video assistant, who asked Claus to review the play on the monitor following a slow-motion replay of the incident. Balogun was not even cautioned by Claus on the field.

While the U.S. Soccer Federation had no recourse to appeal the red card under FIFA rules, global soccer’s governing body made the decision to allow Balogun to play in the Americans’ next match.

Balogun leads the USA with three goals at this World Cup.

I wonder if Orangeman diverted the bombers flying over DC during the 4th to FIFA HQ to "encourage them" to make the right call.

All it does is puts pressure on the US team because there won't be any excuses now that Balogun is playing.

Brazil (5 times World Cup winners - a record - but last time they won was 24 years ago!) vs Norway later tonight.

I think that Norway could qualify and it would not be such a big shock.

Haaland is in many ways a cyborg and Norway have a strong team and IMO Brazil are weak for their standards and have many injuries. They do not look like a well-oiled team.

Only Vinicius performs on a very high level.

Would be a different game with a prime and healthy Neymar.

But looking more forward to the Mexico-England game. I think that the English could be in trouble.

However a Brazil-England quarterfinal would be epic in many ways.

Frankly USA are lucky enough to have Aarronsen covering in that position so would have had back up.
Anyway happy days USA should have their best team ready…..

I’m just happy I don’t have to think about “what if Balogun had played” for the next 4 years.

unprecedented levels of corruption, even for FIFA.

Great news on Balogun. Was never a red card nor should have been reviewed in the first place.
Sorry that's incorrect. It was a red card, definitely. The issue was that the referees and VAR breached standard protocol. Balogun is cleared on technical grounds to play but his red card stands. I'm rooting for USA as a host nation as much as the next man, but let's not be so blinkered as to excuse dangerous play that could have easily broken a leg.
