INT'L MOD
I don't understand why you folks in the UK allow this. Your politicians are hell-bent on penalizing you for everything. The second hand car market in the UK has always been very very good, far superior to most other countries
Over the last 20-40 years as long as you had about £1000-£2000 you could get a working 10 year old car that would still have plenty of life in it and would be good for years to come
This made life easy for millions of people
The cars, were mechanical
Easy to work on
You can take it to your local back street garage to get a broken part replaced cheaply
You could keep it going for decades if you wanted
That meant less people buying new cars, so they changed the laws
They made road tax on older cars VERY HIGH, £500-£700 per year, same as a super car
Then they bought in laws, where you couldn't drive older cars in town centres and other areas
Now the will END all petrol and diesel car production by 2030-35 and all new cars will be electric
They are forcing old cheaper cars off the road and the only option will be new electric cars which are complicated, your local garage can't fix and after ten years the batterys will be dead and need to be replaced for thousands of pounds
Ontop of that the price of cars has just gotten higher and higher, even basic junk is the best part of £20,000 now
Chinese cars are a solution, but they will destroy the European companies, so massive tarrifs are placed on them to inflate the price and take in taxes
The entire system is breaking down
I tend to buy new cars now, but I've advised friends to buy SOLID petrol and diesel cars with solid engines and low milage and just keep them running and fixing them when they need to
Of course, similar things are happening here. The people simply refuse to accept it.
