@Fatman17 sb

Business wants 6% Devaluation of the PKR further

Wouldn't that boost exports?

Regards

Devaluation May Make Exports Cheaper But Imported Inputs Upon Which Exports Are Dependent On Also Become More Expensive, So That Offsets Any Potential Economic Gains

@Samlee

You are right bro, but labour intensive exports like textiles, footwear may benefit since labour component is large. This is the sort of exports that PAK needs.

Regards

Even if Pakistan gets to $300 billion annual exports it will still look poor. Just look at Brazil and Mexico. That's how behind they are.

This will take decades and we won't see a Turkey like aesthetic improvement outside of enclaves until 100 years.

The basic problem is that spending on the fauji establishment crowds out any private investment. If you include military pensions, well over 3% of the GDP is spent on the military.

They have no choice, India is a threat and they are forced to spend on the military.

If they don't then we saw what would happen in May.

It's by design. India is also constantly trying to damage their reputation and create chaos in their country to stop the flow of FDI.

@Distant_Observer has a point. Given the adverse strategic situation that PAK faces with a two front scenario, there is no way PAK can cut back on military spending.

Most of the defence spending goes towards Fauji Enterprises, perks and sinecures , not fighting India.

On one hand, more and more people are being brought in the tax net, and on the other hand, organization's run by the servants of the people are still given tax exemptions, while earning billions in profits.

Is it a crime to be a civilian or work in a civilian organisation?

World Bank approves $700mn for Pakistan to strengthen macroeconomic stability

The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved $700 million in financing for the Pakistan Public Resources for Inclusive Development – Multiphase Programmatic Approach (PRID-MPA), a multi-year, multi-program initiative to support macroeconomic stability and service delivery.

According to a statement on Saturday, the PRID-MPA will enhance spending quality and leverage data and digital tools for improved services.

The MPA is intended to support ongoing fiscal reforms, aligned with the IMF-Extended Fund Facility program and the National Fiscal Pact.

The MPA will provide up to $1.35 billion in total financing. Of this amount, the World Bank has approved $600 million for federal programs and $100 million specifically for the Sindh provincial program. The results-based design ensures that resources are only disbursed once program objectives are achieved, the World Bank said.

“Pakistan’s path to inclusive, sustainable growth requires mobilising more domestic resources and ensuring they are used efficiently and transparently to deliver results for people,” said Bolormaa Amgaabazar, World Bank Country Director for Pakistan.

“Through this MPA, we are working with the Federal and Sindh governments to deliver tangible impacts—more predictable funding for schools and clinics, fairer tax systems, and stronger data for decision‑making—while safeguarding priority social and climate investments and strengthening public trust.”

The multilateral lender said that the federal component will focus on raising domestic revenues more fairly, improving budget planning and execution, and strengthening data systems for evidence-based decisions.

Key actions include advancing tax policy and administration reforms; financing and scaling the Integrated Financial Management Information System and its linked e-procurement platform; undertaking targeted subsidy reforms; and strengthening the national statistical system led by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

“Strengthening Pakistan’s fiscal foundations is essential to restoring macroeconomic stability, delivering results and strengthening institutions,” said Tobias Akhtar Haque, Lead Country Economist for the World Bank in Pakistan.

“Through the PRID‑MPA, we are launching a coherent nationwide approach to support reforms that expand fiscal space, bolster investments in human capital and climate resilience, and strengthen revenue administration, budget execution, and statistical systems. These reforms will ensure that resources reach the frontline and deliver better outcomes for people across Pakistan with greater efficiency and accountability.”

In Sindh, the program is expected to increase provincial revenues, enhance the speed and transparency of payments, and broaden the use of data to guide provincial decision-making.

The program will directly support the increase of public resources for inclusive development, including more equitable and responsive financing for primary healthcare facilities and more funding for schools, concluded the statement.

======================================================

The news report did not explicitly state the official stance, only indicating that it does not comply with China's current national standards. Himalayan salt is restricted to industrial use only.

Himalayan salt mainly comes from Pakistan.

Therefore, if any of you are involved in related work, please pay attention to relevant news from China in the near future.
