As for the Amphibious Assault Ships, it gonna be easy for China to catch up in few years.

As for the aircraft carrier, China will commission the Type 004 in the next 4-5 years.

While the USN still got their CVN-78 and CVN-79 both plagued with issues, and the earliest Nimitz class ships like CVN-68/69/70 are all going to be over 50 years old in 2030.

And most China destroyers and submarines can carry more powerful hypersonic missiles to offset the numerical disadvantage of the aircraft carrier fleet.

So having more aging aircraft carrier fleet doesn't necessarily guarantee the military superiority over China.

Just like missiles and airplanes, wind tunnel testing is required, and any minor detail change can lead to unexpected results.
This is also why Turkish aircraft and South Korean aircraft are very similar to the F-22, as without wind tunnel testing, the most conservative approach can only be used.

I don't think the blueprint of the Varyag did exist when Ukraine sold the ship hull to China.

Otherwise, China wouldn't take 13 years to commission that ship.

Since the China from the 2000s was also an industrial powerhouse, just not powerful enough to challenge the US.

Since Ukraine was also afraid of the western sanction, so it sold as a floating casino to China.

Then China spent 13 years to study and built up its own supply chain to provide all components for the aircraft carrier.
