UK did the most idiotic thing to sign the trade agreement with India which allows companies to hire Indians and haven't have to pay national insurance for three years! That's a big savings. You are looking at average 300 to 400£ savings per employee per month on payroll.

Now we are see seeing huge influx of Indians.

Ya. Considering there are currently 600K Indian H1B visa holders residing in US as we speak for the last 7-8 years. From this month end, on average 25K Indian origin H1B visa holders visa will get expired which we won't renewed unless someone is at Director level. So there will be mass exodus back to India every month for the next one year.

Now fresh graduates from Indian IT universities will get a tough time securing a job in India as local companies will prefer to hire these returned Indians. This will also hurt Indian remittance and in the next few years, all the Indian origin CEOs will replaced by some gora. I don't think this US policy will change even after Trump's term. Even if some other President after Trump ease the policy, damage will be done.

It’s not just Trump. There is bipartisan support in Congress and anti-H1B/L and OPT bills are moving forward.

The US is not a jobs program for Indians with fake degrees and fake credentials.

The way this is designed is to still ensure that the h1bs that do come are fully worth it, but also simultaneously cut the fat of superfluous guys coming from India.


So focused on attracting real top talent, and paying them well thorough new h1b, whilst distributing the pie to American citizens for other jobs h1bs would take.


H1BS DO NOT ONLY NEED TO COME FROM INDIA


IF A COMPANY NEEDS THIS SKILL TO BE COMPETITIVE THEN WHY SHOULD INDIANS WORRY ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL 100K? They would get rehired. Surely?



Finally remember, plenty of Americans had to train their replacements from India to take their jobs.

There is no reason the reverse cannot happen now .... Please correct me if I am wrong anywhere

If there is something magical about Indian appointments, whatever they add to the company's profit margin will make a $100,000 "annual fee" peanuts in comparison and money well spent.

If, on the other hand, these Indian CEOs-in-waiting are simply cheap foreign labour who undercut domestic workers, then they won't be worth the annual membership fee.

This will of course be a big problem for H1B individuals who are out of the country right now, who own property in the USA and need to unwind their presence in the USA. I suspect they can go on a tourist visa, and bring their belongings back and do things like put up property for sale.

( i am not sure if you can get a mortgage on a H1B visa given that it is mean to be a temporary visa ??? )

It will be very difficult for such people to get a tourist visa because the visa officer will righfully assume they will try to go back to their jobs since they likely have valid I-797s and adjust the status back to H1B again.

I know plenty of H1Bs who bought real estate on mortgage and also some who just paid cash outright.

This is effectively a direct attack on India's soft power proclamation of having skills

It's a very weird predicament India are placing themselves in, many of their talking heads are now saying America will suffer ....so they are effectively adversial to America success unless they can get their h1b gravy train.....


What if these companies do just fine?


Senior management can just simply look across their org charts, and reorganize the head count to have a mix of h1b, American graduates, and other Americans.

Within teams and departments the h1bs will look to differentiate themselves and it will be every Man for himself, the most crucial ones will be identified
