H-1B visas must end’: Wife of US citizen shares plight of landing IT jobs

@r3alist bro

In which case, then you can proudly boast, smaller total number, but better average and median

Thanks. Us Bhakts will be better prepared for the next round of skirmishes!

I am serious, I have an inkling it could significantly increase assuming this law can remain in place, the refreshed values in five years time .... You would have to say those are the guys you can't question too much

Old video, but the story was and is, still the same. It is loophole valley on this.

I do wonder if there will be restrictions on L-1 VISA's ? That is open to misuse too.
Based on my experience, the H1B process is very stringent these days. Isolated cases of abuse may exist, of course. I would say L1B and even L1A visas are generally given to a less qualified applicant pool, since there is no requirement to testify that a qualified American could not be found to do the job. They have a different purpose and restrictions. Placing restrictions on them could affect investment into the US by foreign companies, so there are different issues at stake there.

H1b should have a much broader geographical mix, America still has the brand to attract global talent especially if they pay well, already we can see a narrative shaping to still keep h1bs heavy on Indians even if the numbers reduce.

India were pinning their hopes on Kamala for the sure bet to keep this gravy train going.

What India should have done is managed immigration very tightly and only allowed small numbers for the first 10 years. Then slowly increase.

You should sent everyone straight away :ROFLMAO:

@r3alist bro

So what would make the Indians who are left behind an even higher wage island? I am assuming that they are all "genuine talents" and not the riff raff. What makes them a higher earning pool than say the Pak Americans (who themselves are earning higher than native white Americans)?

Regards

Why would you want a job at near 60? If you have been in IT, you would have funded retirement several times over by now. A more sensible move would be to spend half a year back in Pakistan in one of the more pleasant places.
My younger bro (who is a tad over 50) does just that.

I was way too generous helping the family back in Pakistan. I have written about some of that in my travel post about the recent trip to Pakistan. Otherwise, my annual income over the last quarter century has been decent enough for a healthy person who is relatively young, 'child free'--and in America, people look forward to reach late 50s+ to 'enjoy retirement'. Here people don't as much sag in physical and mental health as they seem to do in Pakistan and India!!! OMG, the international flights are full of the Desis on wheelchairs and they don't look that old!!

But moving back to Pakistan is an option!! If the family inheritance disputes hadn't affected my just concluded trip to Pakistan then I would have found Pakistan even more appealing. Plus my Gori wife doesn't want to move to anywhere and so that complicates the planning. For now, I just want another six-figure job!! And if Trump's executive order is enforced then I will have more spine to ask for higher pay then I was resigning myself to.

And who would ensure this broader geographical mix ? If a company is hiring just 1 worker and cannot find a suitable American, should they be forced to hire someone from Nigeria who is far less qualified than a Chinese, just because Nigeria is underrepresented in the mix ?

Indians wanted Trump more than anyone else!! But Trump is Trump! Who could ever predict the guy.

Sir, please do read the order. It is much narrower in scope than the media is portraying it to be, and even that seems like quite an overreach.

You know I never denied there are plenty of exceptional and brilliant Indians, who are an asset to America.

suppose you will be left with those who are considered worth the expense.... And they would have to stay long enough in order to gain citizenship, that might be tricky, companies probably look to keep them for a few years and transfer the knowledge back to cheaper workforce

In which case, the best Indians may well just decide America is no longer worth it..... Ultimately they want the best first world lifestyle they can get

I meant a broader geographical mix for those people who get the visa

Because essentially the principle is being refreshed to what it was meant to be all along, you make exceptions for the very best around the world which America does not have.

So now if you are looking at actual real specific talent and skill, and the Indian consultancy employment is not structurally built in..... That opens up the rest of the world.
