Having fewer Indians and more Pakistani is the easiest easiest way to do that as most jobs are not high-end jobs and therefore easy to switch around, etc.

Want to understand how the ME labour market works.

Is there a nation-wise quota which fixes an upper limit to the number of workers from each country?
Who decides where the labour is to be sourced from? The govt? or individual employers, be they individuals or corporates?

Now since IND imports a lot more from ME countries as opposed to PAK, would that give it some leverage over the ME labour market, even in the face of a PAK-KSA military alliance?

He's under no illusion, his argument is that the Indians will do the grunt work that Americans will not, and that the Indians are responsible for the high price to earnings multiple for the magnificent 7, thus allowing other Americans to enrich themselves 😂😂😂

Obviously obviously no one should count on things remaining constant


But the damage has been done in terms of politicizing this issue, if you are coming into the h1b scheme now there is a qualitative difference in how you perceive yourself and wider society will perceive you.

If you were an aspiring h1b and are mid to higher level compared to the others, you may want a safer option.

If you are a rockstar then the world is for you.

It is grunt work - if folks in India work for $40,000 - $50,000 per year which is a relative fortune in India it is hard for Americans to compete

Let us not have any illusions here

Would it be fair that we can conclude that a large chunk of H1B workers do grunt work, but they do so at lower wages than at what Americans would?

After all it's an office job. How does it become grunt work?

Because suddenly it's become grunt work.... This is another falsehood flying around, how many are actual coders, there will be plenty of non coding visas given, these are just general jobs

And yes you make a good point about the relative value, it's not exactly exploitation when you look at the opportunity cost, quite the opposite

Not all office jobs are the same

Some jobs are grunt jobs. If you have to show up to work at least four days, like my buddy does at a semiconductor equipment company, it is grunt work. Especially when he gets half the salary of someone who works from home for a SaaS company.

I am not talking about cushy project manager jobs. I am talking about the jobs where someone has to fix an obscure job written by someone else. It is ain't fun

That's called a job buddy.

Tell me what grad doesn't go through some period of grunt work early on their career, it's pretty much a rites of passage and necessary for the foundations of your future.

This repackaging of what was the norm..... as actually grunt work...... taken on with a heavy heart by others is complete cow dung.... It's capture of opportunity.

You already established that this opportunity of even 50,000 dollars is a dream, it's also a dream to get the experience of doing the work for a good many people.... And then to bring over your family or start a family


And again, I don't even think half of these visas issued are doing grunt work
