HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

Why? MK2 don't have better engine so more power for radar? Does UTTAM MK1 completely occupy all the space and if yes why not increase the size of MK2 nose cone? After all even MK2 prototype is not yet developed.
Tejas MK2 also has a higher payload capacity there’s no additional power available to support a bigger radar.

The radars on Tejas MK1A and MK2 are same, as both aircraft have same size nose cone. The radar for 41st Tejas MK1A is no longer planned to be UTTAM MK1; [it] intention has been upgraded to be UTTAM MK2 if possible.

Come on, IDRW is one of the biggest spreader of BS, nonsense and wet-dreams!

Well we will make 110 KN engine for AMCA in future

So what is the Harm in fitting it in MK 2 , if its technically feasible

What matters whether the Dimensions are similar to 414 engine

Just shows that Safran has a Keen eye on our projects

The point is, IF the engine will be ready it is indeed an option ... but the point is IF and when is this IF?

No, it only shows IDRW is desperate for clicks and posts any random nonsense like this:

Honestly, to post very stupid AI-generated image of a fighter that looks more like a JF-17B & something even more than off in the background only to tell us something that was long rejected since it does not fit any requirement?

We are going for NLCA , one Squadron , based on current MK 1 design

2 NLCA s are already operational, having validated CARRIER Take off and Arrested Landing

One NLCA squadron will help in Reducing Work load of MiG 29 K till Rafales M join in

It can carry both BVRs and Drop Tanks

@Deino

You can watch above Video

Though it is in Hindi , this Reporter is directly quoting ADA chief saying that NP 5 is the latest and most refined Naval Variant and is fit for production and operational use

Come on ! Posting a random fan-made YouTube video is all you can show?

According to similar fan-made stuff the sky is green and whatever ...

And wow :ROFLMAO: ..."It can carry both BVRs and Drop Tanks" Is this anything special to be proud of??

Forget about NLCA or be happy to get some lollypops like HAL etc.

Indian Navy is not like Indian Airforce. They know how to give lollypop to MOD, HAL etc and get what is required at the right time.
For reference Just check the list of what Indian Navy already got in last 25 years. (I am not talking about planned things, I mean things which are in their hand now).

Very true, off topic but Indian Navy seems to be in a different league compared to IAF and Indian Army.

Great mix of high end Indian, Russian, American and French kit and always seem to be deploying globally and exercising with many nations.

The LCA Navy has 2 variants.

1. LCA Navy Mk1 which was the fighter variant with a single seat
2. LCA Navy Mk1 trainer, which is the trainer variant which retained combat abilities as on the single seater.

The discussions that were supposedly going on was for a squadron of the LCA Navy Mk1 trainers.

There is no other supersonic trainer capable of landing and taking off from a carrier as of today.

Even China and the US don't have a clean sheet design that is capable of that even as of today. For the US, after the Goshawk, the USN may not even require carrier landing as a mandatory requirement from it's T-45 replacement program, with ability to simulate carrier landing on a land based runway being considered enough. T-7A or M-346 may be offered for that role, neither of which are navalized trainers.

The ADA Director stated that on the book launch by former ADA Director and LCA Navy Project Director.

So it wasn't pulled out of thin air.

You need to really go easy on the constant insulting, rebuking and making fun of other posters. It's really getting tiring.

Do wake us up when your beloved China manages to get a supersonic carrier capable trainer onto a carrier. Till then, this is pretty special for it to be able to carry out fleet air defence roles in conjunction with training roles. Can any of your PLAN trainers do so?

I've bought my copy of this book by Commodore CD Balaji, formerly with the IN then deputed to ADA and then went on to become the Project Director for LCA Navy and eventually ADA Director. It's the history of how the LCA Navy program came about and what all happened in it.
