HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

It's not the leak that's newsworthy, it's the bag they used.

Just imagine the discussion from .....we noticed a leak to..... These bags we'll do the job

They claimed its water.
Pakistani claimed it's oil why Shopper bag etc.

From an aerospace expert engineer not me..

Tejas arrived two days before the show and had its post-flight the same day. The ECS wouldn’t have run since then and 48 hours is more than enough to stabilise any condensation inside its heat exchangers so that excuse is off the table.

The real problem is poor work ethics and low technical experience. The leak clearly came from the wing root, either JP-8 or LEF hydraulics. And seriously, where were the dip trays? This points to over-charged hydraulics or a missed fuel leak during post-flight. In both cases, someone in IAF maintenance needs to answer.

When your basics aren’t solid, even a parked jet becomes an embarrassment.

Whatever the leak, it was unprofessional to use shopping bags to collect the fluid.

They should know that, such displays are closely monitored and such maintenance practices are bound to invite criticism.

So the leak is not a crime but shopping bags usage is definitely a s##t show. Stupid planning.

literally bullshit, this is the level of reporting of their defense enthusiasts, jinko shayad IAF ne bhi PL-15 ki range par serious le liya tha, Defense Matrix/Alpha Defense jese ch*tiye

If the grapevine is to be heard the issue isn’t so much maintenance as it is the third party subcontractors. Apart from the many reasons for the delay in Tejas has been Indian private subcontractors making promises on contracts and then delivering either completely out of spec goods or at times delivering them in conditions not even suited for shanty construction supplies.

It was a “system” problem (and I will get flak for this) which is a DESI juggaar and nepo relationships issue.

In larger scheme of things, this has been a big headache.
But in this instance of leak gate, the aircraft was from initial batches of Tejas and many of these issues must have been well known.
They should have also known, that all major airports have strict no spill policy for environmental reasons.

The team handling Tejas should have catered for proper equipment rather than rushing in with paper bags and making an a## of themselves under the glare of international media.

Noticed this LCA was flying with a safety pin on its gun 😂🤣
This picture shows that the aircraft is fully loaded with many weapons as well as fuel tanks.
Has it been performing the display with all these?
