HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

It is hearting to see such fine aerospace engineers amongst us on this thread.

They have all the know how of the design elements of a fighter aircraft.

Airframe is badly designed, engine is weak, undercarriage malfunctions all the time, Brake system has no brakes, wing design is poor, fly by wire is unstable etc etc.

Anything else?

We will pass on this information to not only HAL but to all other aviation companies out there. Some of the posters from here would be worth more than gold in weight in knowledge.

any sale?.. ..

The Tejas project will now be similar to the China’s JF-17 project ie only export to third world countries and no domestic induction.

Pardon, but that'S a stupid comment, it is NOT "China's" JF-17, but a joint-development and the PLAAF never had an intention to introduce it.

As such, either it is purchased by India and flown in the IAF or NOTHING! No-one will buy that thing otherwise.

Second attempt for light trolling : PAC/PAF should offer JF-17 thunders to Indian Air force, Multi-role, cheap, and reliable fighter jet with no string attached (wink wink). I think a deal can be reached here :)
IAF and Indian Navy don't really like the RD series engines otherwise they would've got hundreds of LCAs with RD-33/93 made by HAL Koraput long ago.

Should we just double the Rafale order to 250 instead lol 🤣

You might have to

I think originally the Tejas plan was straightforward and simple, but because they repeatedly put it through redesigns and upgrades and all sorts, it has issues

At the moment it has been placed under minimal duress and zero combat in DECADES

As you place it under duress, your losing planes, 3 in the last 23 months and the more you do it the worse it will get

I tend to agree with you Tejas 2 could be finished, but India could find itself in a disastrous position if Tejas 1 turns out to be a problem

Engine is not important as it’s a parade plane. Its mission purpose is to puff up a certain 54” chest.

so which country do you think is dumb enough to buy the LCA ?..
My enemy’s friend’s enemy is my friend. So may be the hostile Somalian neighbours. You can easily bribe those African dictators to buy shitty products. Pakistan sold JF-17 to Azerbaijan then their enemy Armenia is buy weapon systems from India. Why not Armenia too may get Tejas.

Fake news.
HAL rejects reports of any crash. Says only minor technical incident happened on ground.

While none of these are valid - having 3 losses over the life of what is an unused aircraft does ask for a root cause analysis - does it not?
