Isn't the Israeli radar still being used? I thought the Uttapam radar was still in development? lol

You are mixing it up with the Dosa Transponder, or possibly the Idli Infrared system.

The Uttam radar is ready for productionising, and has been for a little while.

There is a possibility that we may be able to supplement our sensor array with the Big Mac dunking sonar, but you would know all about that.

Uttam Mk2 radar for Tejas Mk2 is still under development, baseline Uttam radar for Tejas Mk1A has entered production. Additionally, a new radar based on Uttam AESA system, called Virupaksha, is being developed for Su-30MKI.

Uttapam radar is not ready bro, they still haven't added the coconut chutney and Sambhar.

All the MK1As slated for production are using the EL/M-2052.

When the Sambhar is ready you let me know, I'll come over. lol

All the MK1A batches produced have been using the EL/M-2052, when the first operational MK1A is in service with the Uttam them I will believe. I've been hearing "in production" for the last few years.

The "Radar configuration" was still being "confirmed" a few months back.

They are still negotiating on who will produce the radar once development/certification ends and it goes into serial production.

There is no ETA on when the first MK1A with the Uttam radar will enter service.

They always say "its ready" its "in production", "cleared for export". Seeing is believing atleast for DRDO.

You are a south indian food connoisseur or something?

You got me hungry.

Ignoring typical jingoism and pointless salt rubbing - this was what stood out to me.

Im not sure of the Gentleman’s true links to the program or otherwise but @Joe Shearer also pointed out such QC issues YEARS ago.
Even from subcontractors.

The goal isn’t to just berate HAL or idiots harping trying to derail the thread.
But rather given the baggage but also the change - what would be the shortest path forward to make fixes?

@AjayGhatak @Faceless @agidest
Obviously there are going to be maintainablity problems, all jets have it.

But why they never talk about MKIs? There is long list of airframe problems ,radar and engine problems in MKI, even including huge problems in flight control, which were corrected after certain crashes. But we even accepted it if MKIs were technologically superior.

How and why it was purchased without any EW integration or giving any thoughts about it? Why not giving any thoughts about Datalinks, even though DRDO was developing AEW&CS since 1996, IAF not even thought about Datalinks?

Even though such systems were available with M2000, why they purchased an inferior prouct in 2000s?

Not saying Tejas dont have problems in maintenance, but it shows malice when you dont want to own your own mistakes. He never says yes we made mistakes with MKIs, and even with systems like S400, when far superior systems were available from Israel.

Read my response to @moonaman.varavayi on the F-35 thread. Your generation is seeing this - but those old men are not or are displaying a mentality of a rotten culture that needs to be thrown out like garbage.

PS: It was HAL/GTRE which solved certain viberation problems in engine in MKIs, it was HAL's mission computer which saved IAF's assess and allowed several EW integration/upgrade and weapons.
It was HAL and NAL who ruggedized MKIs airframe for hot & humid environment.

But that is what HAL is supposed to do - not downplaying the achievements but that is the purpose of an organization in that role.
The IAF screwed up by not thinking ahead but HAL is the state enterprise to support such requirements.

Indeed, its there job, but dont be thankless, and start the blamegame. IAF knew very well why HAL giving such tight timelines, because of SEF contract (F-21). And no way they going to meet it, everyone knew about it, but why they acting suprised now? With all the facility like ASTE and all, IAF didn’t knew about this beforehand? Or they always try to pretend to be naive?

And no one questioning CAS's idiocies, what was this 2.5 engine? Why HAL buy an engine which requires to change after 4000 hours, and who bear the cost? IAF? Then why it is not in contract?
Just barating your juniors for sake of it. He knew very well, these test pilots respect his rank alot as being CAS, and they not going to utter a word. He did a cardinal sin in front of camera.

These test pilots are best of your best. I am quite sure he going to recieve riot act from above.
