i wonder why we use this missile when we have Harba [750KM] , SMASH [don't know the exact range but must be higher than 500km] and babur 3 [450km initially reported].. and future P282[may be]

Can someone with a better analytics tool analyze the speed before impact by analyzing frames and the distance? That will tell us a lot about the missile.

A variant of smash is being customized for Hangor. Harbah NG 500km and Babur 700km are other options. I doubt if it will have yj18 but smash is high supersonic/ possibly hypersonic option.

How will smash be launched from a submarine without any VLS but only torpedo tubes?

Only SK has one non-nuclear submarine that launches a BM.

The usual weapon of choice is a sea-skimming cruise missile. BM exposes its position right away.

- SMASH, so far is ship/land launched. Submarine variant is highly unlikely, will require design change.

- Babur-III: Its already available but its not Anti-Ship missile. Its land attack missile.

- Harbah: No submarine launched version available.

- P282: ? I was telling everyone including "think tank" members years before that P282 and SMASH are one and same missile. The SMASH is the P282.

So obviously, Hangors needed an anti-ship missile. This missile is good, given its launched from 60m depth and sea skimming flight path, very close to surface of water. I was expecting YJ-18 for Hangors too. I suspect that YJ-18 might be procured as well in future. Different attack vectors with different angles & speeds will be death sentence for the enemy fleet.

PN should had learned from PAF and should had gone for YJ18e. PN disappointed this time. Imagine PAF buying J10Cs with SD10 instead of PL15

I don't think it's vls launchedat this moment. They're customizing it for 533mm tube for the sub. I would wait for the test.

A ballistic missile launched from a torpedo tube?! Are you sure about that? That seems extremely unlikely.

Indeed it sounds far-fetched but a sub version is being worked upon is all I know ATM.

Either someone is peddling disinformation to you and having a really good laugh at your expense, or they're working on a VLS launched version of smash. If that is the case, the hangor is unlikely to the be launch platform, as it has no VLS. The only other scenario is a supersonic cruise missile fired from the torpedo tubes that goes by the same name as smash, it wouldn't be the first time that missile nomenclature is all over the place.

As far as I remember, Harbah is essentially a conventional babur so if we have a canisterised babur we in essence have canisterized harbah as well.
