When you said Russia china and India issues

India is nobody or no military threat to any body

China is super power and USA generals meeting for a major super power show down conference makes sense X

Russia threat to NATO makes sense

Middle east makes sense if they are contracting bases

But India is a trade tariff disagreement ...India is not a threat to anyone a definitely not worthy of calling all USA generals from four corners of the world

Heck we Indians can't even protect line on control

It's amazing how a person shows his experience or total lack of, in just ONE post. What's happening here is called "an all hands leadership summit" in common terms. I guess you'd have to get to that level and be in a few to understand my post.

This year alone, a lot has happened. The Commander in Chief of the US military is Trump. He wants his military to be brought up to speed on all global events like I mentioned in my post.

Now, coming to India, note: I didn't spend too much time on India in my post above, but your post made it all about India. So I now have to explain properly in India's context. Using common sense, a nation's commander in chief openly says "India is deceiving them", "its siding with enemies like Russia and China". So if a commander in chief thinks this way, you don't think he will tell his military leaders about it? It's his jobs to make sure his commanders and then down to every single soldiers knows the message "the world is changing really fast". The nations we thought we'd rely on one day to fight the Chinese, whom we've given trillions of dollars and millions of American jobs, bailed on us". And now we have an India, that's more worried about pleasing Russia and China than it's 30 year old ally, America.

You don't think this news alone is worth sharing? This is a strategy shift. How do you NOT tell your commanders about it?

I don't know what you are really trying to say here? That the Sec. of Defense doesn't have his own views? I believe they do as far as implementing policies dictated by the Commander in Chief, which is the US President. They can decide to keep or remove certain posts or posts as they would know more about the lower level then the POTUS would.
And the 'warrior culture' you are talking about was also dented by Bill Clinton when he closed some military bases. This country military is too bloated--it has become a killing machine around the world to enrich the fat a$$es in Washington, DC while also churning out tens of thousands of 'veterans' who are as far removed from any real threat as I am being from a Martian! I personally know a few of such 'veterans' and attended some funerals of such as 'brave' veterans with the bugle and the flag draped coffins. It is all about $$$ and careers for most of them. So I welcome President Trump to stop the bloat and give the hard working Americans some chance for decent lives with jobs and distancing from the wars which eat into Americans' lives!

As I've said time and again, once you reach the O-6 level, from that point forward you become more politician than warrior if you want to advance. Knew an O-5 in the AZNG. Damn good officer. Many of us liked him. Also spent a few too many nights in the Vietnamese swamps. Finally got out because he'd been passed over 3 times.

He couldn't keep his opinions to himself.

It's not. Here is what's going on:
1) Force restructing for better competition with China
2) Change in tactics (old school cold war, then WOT) to now 21st century warfare, goals, and changes
3) Pacific - New focus of the US military and posturing
4) New weapons induction, old weapons retiring
5) Global changes, power centers re-shaping (for example Saudi-Pak defense agreement, Russia, China, India issues)

He can't fire 500 generals at once. It is not China. You'd have a firestorm of people + media + democrats. Democrats aren't in the government. Doesn't mean they don't exist. Such a move will then go to SC. Not to mention, it will bring a terrible name to the military. He's a smart man, smart than many. Knows which battle to pick and win.

Would not say the Klan but certainly I see a Power Grab happening

Lets examine the evidence, follow the steps he has taken so far

1- Initially Trump shut down some departments , claiming they were not needed

• Aid for foreign poor people
• Aid for Allies
• Programs to promote relations with foreign nations
• Fired thousand of workers working social work domain
• Diversity and inclusion jobs and department he eliminated so none whites can't get hired in big companies
• United Nation programs etc called it useless

2- Replaced some people in key position in Government
this is on going , replacing watch dogs who do check and balance

3- Then came the anti Migrant drive

• Targeting Hispanics
• He knows many Hispanics vote for Democrats

4- Cases opened against agents who opened cases against Trump , this is on going issue

• Social media rumour states all the FBI agents, respected black live matter movement and keeled all have been fired from job [Social Media Rumor]

5- Demanding channels fire Democratic comedians or Artist who say anything , anti-republican

• Forced a TV channel to fire , a Comedian Jimmy Kimmel for making a ordinary comment , but it was taken out of context to get channel to fire the night show host.

6- He manipulated the judges supreme court

7- Current gov is manipulating the voter zones , so they can win some areas of close states

• He already has plans active to adjust the zones just enough to win next mid term election

8- Now targeting the Army, this is to ensure no one questions him


My hunch is he will manipulate the Army next

It's for the leadership. Juniors have nothing to do with it. The seniors going back will brief juniors and the staff down to a soldier. It's military and works through a strict chain of command.

At the moment, something else is amiss in the matrix. Unusual number of tanker movements earlier today. Last time that happened recently the US paid a visit to Iran.

My first post on this thread is me just openly stating what this "talk" is for, I didn't quote anyone. Basically, it's a reply to the thread, then you quote me and ask why it was funny. (Because I said my friend, who I went to OCS with, laughed at the end of our conversation)

By the way, I didn't even express my opinion on this; I just said I agree with my friend that this is funny. If you asked me, which you didn't, but I am going to say anyway, this is a power play, you don't give a prep talk as SecDef by calling everyone to him, you go to their base, to raise morale, talk to the commander, talk to the people, that's what SecDef should do, that's what leader should do, when he recall EVERYONE back into one location, that's him showing who's the boss, powerplay is not something that rarely happened with the US Military, most officer do it, that's what Saluting is for.

Let me give you an example of how inappropriate this is, when I was fighting in Iraq, my CO always asked for Sitrep, if he wanted to know how my unit was doing, he came to me and looked at them himself, if someone up top is asking me a question and take me from my guys in the frontline and had me make the travel to Company or Battalion Headquater, I will say "This better be serious". We all have our jobs to do; it's a VERY BIG DEAL for us to drop everything we are doing to go back to HHC. War or not, we have our designated posting. And all those commands were called back to basically attend a 1-hour lecture on "Warrior Ethos"??

By the way, Warrior Ethos is the 4 basic commandments of being a warfighter. It's you always put the mission first, you will never quit, you will never accept defeat, and you will not leave a comrade behind, those are the warrior ethos, I don't know what kind of view Hegseth had with this, but it cannot be very different than the 4 points we already had.
