I feel ashamed over the treatment of Afghan refugees: Imran Khan

They are no longer refugees. They now have a Government in Afghanistan and should return to their country immediately. Afghans unfortunately have milked Pakistan for profit always and in the end, they turn around and bite the very hand that gives them sanctuary. They cannot be trusted. PERIOD!

But how exactly do you propose changing the human nature problem of it and the programming I speak of?
I get the whole "what has to do be done" but HOW?
Right? You are working within a confined system.

Take the Afghan refugees - a primary problem is them bribing Nadra officials for fake ID cards which they use for all sorts of criminal activities or plain badmouthing Pakistan once they use those to leave the country and get to Europe or otherwise through illegal migration.

You can say - lets stop the corruption at NADRA - great- pull that string though and it turns out it not just corruption but coerced corruption coming from these power players who may have vested interested in this generally from personal profit.
You pull that string and you find out that the personal profit is tied both with monetary gain both in and out of Pakistan and it also involves monetary gain for someone either in or recently out of uniform with connections... and now you have hit the same system wall.
I will comment on my thoughts in more detail on the other thread, but the Chinese reform model, not governance model, but reform model, as done by Deng Xiaoping, is in my opinion the best way to go about it.

Incentivize corp commanders and local military commanders, as they have the power to make sure contracts are enforced post haste, to compete with other commanders and off them a commission/percentage of the increase tax revenue plus a residual for growth that comes from it.

It will incentivize them to work hard, fast, and for the long term.

These commanders can ensure local elected officials stick to their jobs and work with haste. They can also weed out incompetent politicians before elections, so only competent ones are allowed to run for office.

So, in terms of dismantling corruption, petty corruption with national implications, it will be a contest between regions and whomever comes up with the best solution gets the credit (and bonus, financial or promotion) and that idea is implemented nationwide. The market place of ideas, of capable administrators with the wind at their backs can really reform the country, if there is incentives.

Suppose a solution is found that requires NADRA cards to be reissued after a certain number of years, in that process the new solution could be implemented and more and more fraudulent cards could be vetted out.

At the national level though, a popular president can leverage their appeal to get the hard of lower level officials over the edge. Failure to do so will cause a shift in the culture, from a unified collective culture; nation building, to one that is focused on the competition of the individual, also similar to China after 1989, when the death of the popular CCP figure and more political engagement by the public was rebuffed.

China had the economic means to put off that problem for decades, but now those problems of social discontent are coming home to roost; such as the lie flat movement and the let it rot movement.

Pakistan doesn’t have the kind of political unity nor economic dynamism China had at the time, so best to leverage what we do have to forge national unity, and at least minimize one border problem, though some grand bargain with Afghanistan. Not build on blind trust but pragmatic confidence building measures and economics as the foundation of the relationship.

There were few cases of Afghans who had lived their entire life in Pakistan being deported. Many honest and hard working ones I have seen. I've heard of them all getting rounded up and thrown out.

To this extent, how they were treated was an absolute crime. Only those carrying weird hateboners for an entire race/nationality will disagree here.

On the other hand, there is no pathway to citizenship in Pakistan and no future for them here. It is in their own best interest to go back.

Good, throw them all out

Good, bad, old young, male, female or eunuch

They can't live in Pakistan, those with fake I.Ds are next on the list

Those who married afghans can leave with them and take the children

It is not Pakistans responsibility to look after namak haram Afghans for the rest of eternity

Afghans may pull off a terrorist act now and then, but they will pay the consequences of their stupidity
