As per my conversation with Lt.Col. AbdulWudood today, they have a new plan for IDEAS starting this year its no longer being managed by the private sector (BadrExpos) and DEPO has taken over the organizing and management of the entire event.
They have also launched their new website and it looks much more professional than last time- good news perhaps that it is going to be open for public and unlike last time there wont be the triple registration confusion

Why ? Surely the Armed forces should be helping to develop the private sector, if they want BadrExpos to change things, then ask them etc.

I think they werent happy with the way things were being run because it was a conflict of management between the private sector and security being handled by public sector.
I went to Karachi to attend IDEAS2024 after my registration was approved, spent 3 hours waiting in line to get in and then came back because turns out I had to register again at another location.Maybe it was just my experience but things were a little confusing

Feels as though if it were yesterday the last ideas was held. I must be reaching unc status

The Armed Forces should stop wasting their time doing civilian things, like organising and running expo's.

If there are issues, work with the private sector to fix them. By doing that, the "private sector" can get better at doing more international expo's in Pakistan for other things aswell.

This sort of short sighted thinking by the Armed Forces that continues to undermine all aspects of civilian economic development is crazy.

Well I do agree that we need to empower the private sector, but all global def expos are public run events, and I dont mean to bash BadrExpos at all please I am sure they did the best they could

Edit: I just checked all large scale def expos are govt hosted : IDEF, IDEX, DIMDEX, WDS, so maybe this is what prompted the change

There’s news floating around that this years event has been cancelled because of the war.

The problem with current IDEAS is.

1. Its location In Karachi
2. Mismanagement of entry at many levels
3. Over Bureacratization
4. Low attendance by concerned business community due to above
5. Too much common public entry
6. No announcements or initiatives for actual deals signed during

And yes, IDEAS this year has been cancelled

With all the issues aside, it is still the best defense show, tell, and sale for Pakistan.
