Runway 35, 1500 feet from the threshold to the railway intersection (Now covered up properly). Flying into Peshawar was always a treat back in the early 2000s, crowded with A-5s and a few FT-6s I saw last in 2010-11.

Hawker Tempest II, of the Pakistan Air Force.

This front-line aeroplane had the armour and the firepower, qualities which made the Tempest deadlier in the hands of the PAF, determined to resist to the last man. It gave a new lease of life to a nascent Royal Pakistan Air Force and thus has acquired a significant place in the history of PAF.

At the forefront stands Group Capt. Cecil Chaudhry SJ, SBt, a distinguished officer whose valor and dedication left an indelible mark on the annals of history. Proud recipient of the Sitar-e-Jurrat, Tumgh-e-Jurrat, Sitar-e-Bisalat and the Pride of Performance award, he played a pivotal role in some of the most pivotal moments of the 1965 war.

Among his many notable missions, he led the daring attack on Halwara airbase, where Squadron Leader Rafiqi and Flight Lieutenant Younas Hassan made the ultimate sacrifice, laying down their lives in service to the nation. In the face of adversity, Cecil demonstrated extraordinary skill and courage, downing a couple of IAF's Hunters.

Moreover, he was an integral part of the formation that decimated the Amritsar Radar, a mission in which Squadron Leader Munir paid the ultimate price for his country. Throughout his illustrious career, Cecil exemplified the epitome of a true patriot, a champion of minority rights and battle-tested fighter pilot, earning the admiration and respect of all who served alongside him.
