India Economy Thread

“‘Verified and praised’ is an interesting interpretation of an IMF report that literally lists the methodological weaknesses. I suspect the IMF may have forgotten to praise the bits it criticised. 😂
😂You can read latest statement word by and sulk in corner. Don't get stuck with old report like broken record .

"The latest GDP release incorporated both a new index of industrial production, and a new producer price index series, and those two new series should help improve India's GDP estimates," said Julie Kozack,Director of the Communications Department at the IMF

Do these institutions still believe in Modi's '$5 trillion economy'? The great Modi first laid out this ambition at the National Development Council meeting in June 2019, then formally announced it as the core national vision of his second term in his Independence Day speech on August 15, 2019. The original target was 2022, later pushed to fiscal year 2024-25—but neither was achieved, and officials no longer even mention the goal.
Modi's great achievement. A hell-like geopolitical predicament, and today fanatical Hindus are still agitating to annex Nepal.
"These institutions " ??
Ask your own higher rank wumao boss. You embassy believes in Indian economic growth.

LOL It's fine that u believe the diplomatic rhetoric from a hostile country's diplomatic agencies. I'd still like to hear how you explain the great Modi's $5 trillion target:

The great Modi first expounded this ambition at the National Development Council meeting in June 2019, and then in the Independence Day speech on August 15, 2019, formally announced it as the core national vision of his second term. The initially set target time was 2022, later adjusted to fiscal year 2024-25, but both failed to be realized, and at present the official side no longer mentions this goal

Well when Modi gave $5 trillion GDP number back in 2019, no one knew that over next few years that Chinese are going to infect the world with Wuhan virus.

I am just waiting for round 2. You know it is coming sooner or later. World economy barely survived round 1.

I didn't give you a number ..ADB, Fitch, S&P and Moody's did.

Please present your question regarding Indian GDP growth rate to them.

And we're back to the number again. I’m asking about the methodology used to produce it—not a list of institutions that subsequently used it. We appear to be going around in circles. 😏

Excellent. We’ve progressed from ‘the IMF praised the methodology’ to an IMF statement saying the new data should ‘help improve’ GDP estimates. That’s quite an interesting definition of ‘nothing to see here. 😁

DO you know, what methodology Fitch, S&P or Moody's use to calculate a country's credit rating? Have you ever questioned them on their methodology?

If not then why do you question them on their GDP growth rates?

Sigh...What prompts you guys to slam your head against a wall, again and again?

Use your Modi brain for a second. The Indian variant is already five years behind us. It's almost 2027. Where's the $5 trillion?

Yes, I question methodologies when they are relevant to the claim being discussed. This thread is about India’s GDP methodology, not how Fitch, S&P or Moody’s construct sovereign credit ratings. If you want to open that discussion too, I'm perfectly happy to read the methodology. 😂
