India Economy Thread

Yes, if only understanding the economy is what you guys say it should be 😂

How is the air pollution in Delhi looking, ready for the world cup yet. Imagine the train journey vlogs?

Okay I'm not trolling here, or provoking, Pakistan has these issues as well, if attitudes towards human development were improving, this would be a revolution for South Asia, and I mean attitude.

this is not reliant on technology or favorable trade terms, as gopinath said Indias GDP trajectory is just the math playing out for 1.5 billion people, so you can surpass whoever, whilst having pollution/conditions that makes athletes sick and unwell.

Ask China how they achieved their economic growth and what their pollution levels were 20 years back

I guess the point is, it has improved rapidly, and China is quickly adopting electric cars as well as solar energy. Remember they hosted the Olympics in 2008 as well.

Maybe we are not as quick as them at the growth story, might take us longer but we are on the right track.. there is no magic to be done on the fronts of human development if you can't first create a better and growing economy

It’s quite bad and there seems to be no sign of improvement.
The issue is more of social than economic. Many nations with even poorer economies are cleaner and with lesser pollution. And often, even those with a lot of money can be seen littering and polluting. Would more money make any change? Would more money stop farmers from burning their fields?

And, there is no end in sight.

The economy part is a separate game all together.

Even in economy there are many issues. Major ones are wealth distribution, job creation for millions, better nutrition.

We can do much better than what we are doing. And China is a shining beacon of example in this regard.

But, there is a beacon of hope too. Industries coming up, new enterprises opening, FDI coming in and a lot more.

A mix of hope and hopelessness makes one wonder, to cheer up or cry?

May sound like trolling but a Pakistani laughing on us over our economy sounds a little……..I hope you get it.

Well this post surprised me.
Pretty much covered everything.

In 10 years time, assuming current growth projections, China will still be three times bigger than India, but with a smaller population and India with a larger population.
China is more than 4 times India right now..So we will take that 3 times in 10 years. That is a giant leap for India. Finally government will have enough money to fund urban infra, universities, hospitals. Indian population growth is slowing down. Good news all around!

Oh, few things are not going to change anytime soon. Lets discuss this hopelessness in 10 years. Urban infra should be top priority right now.

I am lost? This is PDF, right? You are not Chinese, right? Tiny Vietnam is growing faster than India! See, it's not the numbers, its the direction. Even 6-7% growth for decades can bring amazing transformation.

Which industrialising country hasn't witnessed pollution? Not that I am ignoring the fact that much of the pollution in north India originates from stubble burning, but even in other cities AQI remains high. Vietnam recently started seeing extremely high pollution levels as their economy started blowing up. Indonesia has the most polluted river on earth, China has seen bad pollution levels when it was industrialising. All of it however undesirable is a result of industrialisation and economic growth.

One should rather worry if their air and rivers are polluted despite being an economic basked case running purely on external aid, IMF bailouts and remittances because nothing else would justify that.

Pollution is a concern but bigger concerns are job creation, urbanization, urban planning, clean cities, improving productivity,....I am actuely aware of shortcomings of India. But I won' lose over pollution. Delhi's pollution is purely due to political BS.

Comparing with China is good as well as incorrect in many ways.
The Chinese model is a great one to try and replicate.
But comparing with China on each matrix may not work for us. China is run by Xi with an iron fist. He can do what can’t even be imagined by any politician in India.

Farm sector reforms were rolled back in India. Can that ever happen in China. Kejriwal took central government for a so,I’d ride. These are just couple of examples. There are scores of others.
China has taken a leapfrog that is unlikely to matched by us.

We will lag behind them for a long long time to come. That fact can’t change and there is no point in trying to convince anyone, otherwise.

We need to focus on what we can do. And that is to keep working on economy the way we can.

So you have started your journey now and suddenly you belong in the top tier alongside China? Your man at davos is saying you already major player now

Across any aspect of AI, India is catching up, that should be obvious

Had I known your engagement was for dick measuring and mud slinging, I wouldn't have responded. But I know now.

I am neither Ashwini Vaishnaw nor is his secretary to argue with some Internet mud slinger on his behalf. You be happy knowing that we are no body and I will be happy knowing what I know. Adios.

It is a PDF yet here you are, I would say you are lost for sure.

If you want to have an economic discussion you cannot be adverse to benchmarking, the Chinese unambiguously benchmark themselves to the US.

The Chinese have also overcome many of the issues like pollution so why not

What he said was very specific, India belongs with the very top ai Nations, is it a crime to understand why
