Developing countryies are not perfect. So they cover the flaws when guests arrive, just like my link about Chinese olympics say.
What's your problem here with covering, and how it's related to economy ?

I don’t think those barriers are meant to hide the shanty houses. They probably serve some other purpose, because what would be the point? The houses are still clearly visible.

You dimwit, the Chinese article was a good thing because they saw the problem and fixed it


And it was considered a successful Olympics unlike your commonwealth games

If the IMF or World Bank questions India’s 7.8% GDP growth in the first quarter, then it can be debated. Otherwise, claims made by random individuals on social media are irrelevant and should be dismissed. GDP data is not something Indian government can simply manipulate without scrutiny.

Look at India’s automobile sales as well. Passenger-vehicle sales are growing at the rate of 35% annually, and India will buy more than 5 million passenger vehicles this year alone. The underlying economic activity remains very strong and will keep booming every year. In fact, even the 7.8% GDP growth figure seems to be an underestimate.
