Yes agreed.. but can't forget the past.

I can give example for private sectors in defence.. now many companies are getting involved and producing the products, previously, Congress government only focused to import the weapons from other countries and only focused on DRDO etc.

It's a government job to make such healthy environment and facilitate to the companies for setup the manufacturing industries..

We have already missed many opportunities in the past due to bad governances in India

Not really true.

World percentage of manufacturing in GDP is 15-16%. India is at 13% of GDP.

Bad example. Rich world has moved beyond manufacturing. They can afford to. India needs massive manufacturing boost to move the masses out of poverty, reduce agricultural dependence, .....benefits are many to count.

He highlighted the challenges faced by agencies like the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in this regard.

The firm announced a notable achievement in cost reduction, with the Indian-made FWD-200B priced at just Rs 25 crores, in stark contrast to the staggering Rs 250 crore cost of imported US Predator drones. Tejaskanda emphasised that this substantial cost reduction demonstrates the company's commitment to self-reliance and positions India as a leader in cost-effective defence solutions.

With features including a 12-20 hour endurance, maximum speed of 200 kts/370 kmph, and a ground control station range of 200 km, the FWD-200B is envisioned as the "nation’s eagle eye" and a vital aerial shield against threats.

The firm stressed that the unveiling of the FWD-200B represents a significant boost to India's Make in India initiative, reducing dependency on costly imports for strategic defence equipment like UAVs.

Doesn't take much to put a motor in anything and make it move. Heck that thing might even fly. So does the paper rocket I can make. How far, how long, how well and what can it do in that flight time that's what defines a military drone.
Just because I can run doesnt mean I am in the same league of Usain Bolt. This dude is high on something of he thinks that potato is a military drone.

Man wtf is this thing? This is like for flying dead bodies from one city to the other like for funeral man. I can’t see any other purpose for this thing. It’ll be visible on radar from 100 miles away.

For f*ck's sake just induct it already, this thing is in the making for over 10 years now.

This project is a prime example of everything that is wrong with DRDO and Army.

Even after having prior experience with ATGM (from NAG project) it took these nincompoops 10 years to make an ATGM, and it's not even inducted yet.
I fear it will have the same fate as NAG, after completing it's Developmental trial by some miracle, it will fall short in Army trials and improvements would be demanded and the whole fuckin cycle of testing and trials will start all over again

For reference Turks started work on their Man portable ATGM at the same time, and theirs is already inducted in Turkish Land Forces
