Ethanol is making India angry | Abhi and Niyu
India also needs to invest in flex-fuel engines capable of running on 100% petrol or 100% ethanol, following the examples of Brazil and the United States. Existing engines could also be modified to handle higher ethanol blends, such as E50, where technically and commercially viable.
Once India develops this capability at scale, it could export not only fuel but also flex-fuel vehicles, engines and related technologies, creating another major export industry, generating jobs and accelerating economic growth.
I genuinely want the war in the Gulf to end. But if energy supply disruptions persist, India should turn this crisis into a long-term industrial opportunity. South Korea may try a similar strategy, but India's enormous manufacturing base and potential economies of scale gives us significant competitive advantage.
The opportunity is bigger than fuel exports alone: India could become a global hub for multi-fuel production, flex-fuel engines and vehicles, capturing value across the entire supply chain.
