India Lucky Not To Lose More Than Four Rafales

India is so unhappy with Rafale that they ask french governments the modalities to order between 40 to 114 units in a GtoG deal.

La tribune is one of the most well informed french economic news paper.

"New Delhi has requested information in connection with a possible new Rafale order (between 40 and 114). This procedure is separate from the Indian tender for the acquisition of 114 combat aircraft currently underway (MRFA).

This is a strong signal. Very strong. For all those who thought the Rafale had not performed operationally well during the Sindoor air raid against Pakistan, India has sent a clear message. It wants to order more Rafales as soon as possible through a state-to-state agreement, outside of India's MRFA (Multi Role Fighter Aircraft) tender for the purchase of 114 fighter jets. According to concordant sources, New Delhi, strongly pressured by the Indian Air Force (IAF), sent a letter to Dassault Aviation in early August asking for details on the price for a possible order ranging from 40 (minimum) to 114 Rafales.

This letter clearly demonstrates that Indian airmen were not disappointed with the results of the Rafales deployed during Operation Sindoor, despite the information attacks launched by Pakistan and China. According to our information, the Indians are expecting a response from France in the coming days, perhaps in late August or early September. As for the MRFA tender, it is reportedly continuing. This initiative shows that the Indian army wishes to accelerate the modernization of its combat aircraft fleet, particularly in light of tensions with Pakistan.."

There were PL-15 missiles found in the indian soil. It is clrystal clear.
We just don't know if they were our of fuel or if they disfonctionned.
You can be sure the seekers are now fully analysed.
of course, they were. At Bhatinda, nearby field!

Problem is.... There was no seeker with those.... They were empty shells. Seekers were perhaps embedded in the bodies of downed IAF jets. Try finding in scrap.

Shows otherwise more likely.
First.... India has no other option.
Second.... India has to hide her embarrassment.
Third and more important is that we all agreed that Rafale was a good jet. Even our airforce spokesman said Rafale was a very good jet. Problem was with IAF and their poorly trained pilots. It was not Rafale jet's fault that it was downed so mercilessly. Give IAF pilots F-35 jets results will be same.
So nothing out of natural that India is ordering more Rafaels.
Hope replacements for 4 downed Rafales are also included in the tender.

We keep hearing that the 1 UAV being shot down on 7 May 2025 but what's so significant about this particular UAV when so many other UAVs were shown to be brought down?

According to BonPlan’s version of events, the PL-15 was largely unsuccessful, yet its seekers were found intact and sent for further inspection. That notion is not only laughable—it’s completely divorced from reality. Why would anyone study the seeker of a failed missile? It’s like the USAF purchasing Tejas just to analyze its technology.

looking forward to your sensible response (if any!)

There is no way India is buying 114 Rafales on top of 114 as part of the previous multi-decade long running programme of the MMRCA programme.

Not going to happen...

Talk is cheap, and India has been talking about MMRCA for decades now and will continue to do so, right after i have retired from working life.

It is not my version. I gave my source, and if you make some internet search you will find others.

Why not study the seeker of an ennemy missile? It can give you very precious datas, as frequency (or frequencies) used, electronic counter counter measures used (or not) to counter it and the level of integration of the discret components and some other datas (I'm not electronical engineer).

Why do you think US and NATO were very found of all the russian electronic counter measures shelters found intact or nearly intact in ukraine?

Why do you think USA were very happy with USSR fighters delivered intact by their pilots who wanted to go in the west ?

At least for the end part of your answer, I agree.

10 year old seekers. You lot need source code to make minor changes to planes.

Good luck with replicating the missiles though Rakesh

5 years and counting for the "immediate" and "cleared" follow on order. Think it may have been you under a different fake French ID telling us the 56 extra plane follow on order was "imminent" Everyone on this forum is tired of waiting another 5 years for this.

Heron is a larger surveillance Drone. It was up in the air at the time Indian Air Force launched their airstrikes.

ohh dear, are you even capable of remembering your own words?!!!

cant you see the (binary) asymmetric contrasts here!

PL 15 was a failure of huge proportions!!!!!

to the contrary, in reality, converse is true, USAF has decided to give a long range missile a full go!!!

how come?!!
