French and Germans do not see eye to eye on most things in life.

Indo French relations are not on eye to eye level. They are on a feet to forehead level.

China has 6th gen now not in 30yrs time. By the time india flies its 6th gen in tiny numbers, China would probably be on 8th gen by then. India has no advanced technology so the only thing they can do is brag. Even Nigeria can talk about signing up to French 6th gen project so what does that even achieve?

China will also not have 6 gen for a decade atleast .
There is no fixed criteria to be 6th gen but vce engine is .

Oh for sure, IAF's problem is, as far as they are concerned it is no essentially a sellers market when it comes to 5th/6th gen. So much so they are buying 4th gen Rafales in desperation when every major air force is making 5th/6th Gen plans.

US F-35/F-47 = No
SU-57 = Even 5th Gen?
J-35/J-36 = No
UK/Jap Tempest = No, maybe as final buyer
KAAN = No

That leaves France alone....

Time will tell whether it will be good or bad to join as it demands huge sum of money .

When has India ever had a good deal?
I remember Indians like you 20yrs ago on this forum bragging about IT superpower, english speaking dominant nation and soon to be tech superpower and naval superpower. Now AI destroy your IT sector, rupee crashing and still no innovation or technology leader in any field. Just buying overpriced rafale being used as target practice for J-10s. living in delusion is crazy when your throwing money away while hundreds of millions of Indians do not have clean water or clean air to breathe...
