China's present aerospace capability didn't appear from nowhere. For decades, Soviet and Russian technology, aircraft, engines, missiles, air-defence systems, production know-how and technical cooperation played a major role in China's military-industrial development. China then absorbed, modified, reverse-engineered and eventually developed increasingly indigenous systems.

China's aerospace rise itself demonstrates that collaboration, licensed production, technology acquisition and reverse engineering can be stepping stones toward indigenous capability. Russia played a particularly important role in China's military-aerospace development for decades. Therefore, criticizing India simply because it collaborates with foreign countries is inconsistent.

It's about approch, if someone come and say Russia is behind compared to china on stealth technology and plane development... answer is not that simple and straightforward.

The facts are Russia never intended to build a fighter true stealth jet. Russia has decades of work in radar-absorbing materials, signature reduction, electronic warfare, low-observable research and aircraft shaping.

The Su-57 is a fifth-generation aircraft, but Russia made a different trade-off: it placed considerably more emphasis on kinematics, maneuverability, weapons, sensors and multirole capability than the U.S./Chinese approach of minimizing radar signature as aggressively as possible.

Production scale of modern stealth fighters: China is clearly ahead. Everyone will be agreed because china economy is booming for the last 2 decades and it is already expected.......

Oh for sure, IAF's problem is, as far as they are concerned it is no essentially a sellers market when it comes to 5th/6th gen. So much so they are buying 4th gen Rafales in desperation when every major air force is making 5th/6th Gen plans.

The French won't allow the Indians to get involved in anything important, useful or on the critical path. Maybe India can work on a paint formula?

What the FCAS does offer if it becomes real, is a very tight integration with what will be India's sizeable Rafale fleet that will allow for a high degree of interoperability and network centric warfare capabilities. We should not dismiss this aspect lightly.

Of course, the Indians need to open their wallets and get the 120odd Rafales and also to purchase an FCAS if the project is successful.
