You should ask the Indians how superior their Rafale was against PAF J-10C.

To be clear. In Air-to-Air, it is clear that the J10CE outclasses the Rafale with proven success. However, which of the two platforms is better for air-to-ground, and anti-naval operations? ie "overall" which is the better platform? We are overly focussed on referring to the air-to-air performance as an overall indication of the platforms capabilities etc. I would not dismiss the Rafale platform that lightly, esp if/when France produces an equivalent to the PL15E for the FCAS/Rafale combo.

There is still chance though that French will allow India to be junior partner of this program considering India likely to pledge to buy many of the planes plus already having running aerospace industry, but for 50:50 stakes is pretty unlikely by seeing how France treat German on this program.

It was cancelled largely because France and Germany had increasingly different requirements for the future fighter.

For example, France wanted the aircraft to be capable of operating from its future aircraft carrier, while Germany had no such requirement. This contributed to differences in the aircraft's design, size, weight and overall configuration.

These differences, combined with the Dassault–Airbus workshare dispute, ultimately made the joint fighter program unworkable.

But Indian requirements are the same as France's, more closely matching!

Regarding AMCA -AMCA is India’s indigenous 5th-gen fighter program and should continue independently. At the same time, India can work with France on 6th-gen technology. Both can go together—AMCA for self-reliance, and French collaboration for additional technology and learning that can help India build future-generation fighters.
