It was cancelled largely because France and Germany had increasingly different requirements for the future fighter.

For example, France wanted the aircraft to be capable of operating from its future aircraft carrier, while Germany had no such requirement. This contributed to differences in the aircraft's design, size, weight and overall configuration.

These differences, combined with the Dassault–Airbus workshare dispute, ultimately made the joint fighter program unworkable.

But Indian requirements are the same as France's, more closely matching!

Regarding AMCA -AMCA is India’s indigenous 5th-gen fighter program and should continue independently. At the same time, India can work with France on 6th-gen technology. Both can go together—AMCA for self-reliance, and French collaboration for additional technology and learning that can help India build future-generation fighters.

Let's face it, France n Dassault, have always been control freaks n not really willing to compromise their technology, which is understandable. But this leads to them always going alone

How many local manufacturing/TOT projects/IP transfer projects does India need? You have been doing them since the late 50's and still have not been able to use it effectively before the knowledge becomes obsolete and you then have to ask for TOT again ??

Look at Türkiye, how many successful projects they have had and look at their aerospace history. India should be miles ahead of Turkiye but they are not, they are still stuck in 2nd gear and do not look like they can move up a gear at this rate.
