Love this declaration by India. This also shows that being opportunistic is not the only name of the game in geopolitics. Long time relationships do matter. Russia stood by our side in some of our toughest times and Indian decision not to abandon them in theirs is highly praiseworthy.Responding to questions at the weekly briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: “Our bilateral relationships with various countries stand on their own merit and should not be seen from the prism of a third country. India and Russia have a steady and time-tested partnership.”
NEW DELHI: The ministry of external affairs on Friday rejected suggestions of any strain in India-Russia relations following sharp attacks from US President Donald Trump, who questioned the economic and strategic ties between the two countries.

Jaiswal, when asked about Trump’s broader comments, reiterated the importance of the India-US partnership: “India and the United States share a comprehensive global strategic partnership anchored in shared interests, democratic values, and robust people-to-people ties. This partnership has weathered several transitions and challenges. We remain focused on the substantive agenda that our two countries have committed to and are confident that the relationship will continue to move forward.”

He declined to comment on Trump’s suggestion that India might one day purchase oil from Pakistan, saying, “I have no comments to offer in this matter
On questions related to sanctions imposed by the US on Indian companies trading with Iran, Jaiswal said, “We have taken note of the sanctions, we are looking into it.”
He also addressed reports suggesting Indian oil firms had stopped sourcing Russian oil: “You are aware of our broad approach to energy sourcing requirements, that we look at what is available in the market and the prevailing global situation. We are not aware of any specifics.”
Russia has remained India’s top oil supplier in recent months, accounting for nearly 35–40 per cent of its imports—up from just 0.2 per cent before the Ukraine war

Bro, shouldn’t you actually appreciate India’s approach?Bro, don't be offended. But South Asians have slave's mentality. Don't mix national interests with modern day slavery.

Fact that India has declared this, with tariff sword hanging over our heads, also shows what leverage Trump has on us and what India thinks of Trump’s Tweets about our economy being dead.
This is also a mirror for many people, who claimed that Trump is dictating things to India.
Now that India has openly taken this stand, they can’t digest this either.
@Dalit bro, @hydrabadi_arab
Not good enough. Pick a side.
You guys are telling us that Pakistan is now in both the US and PRC camps. But you want us to pick a side?
Regards
India is in QUAD and BRICS, you want to reap the benefits of QUAD without contributing anything meaningful. Just laser eyes and empty slogans. Pakistan having ties with both China and US is different.
This is a pretty accurate summary of India’s unique dilemma and downfall with the US.
Just because you think you are powerful doesn't make you powerful.Just because you are weak and have no leverage doesn't mean others are in the same situation.
The companies that supply pharma stuff to US aren’t likely to be affected badly. Since, most nations who can provide alternate supply are in a similar ballpark tariff band as India.India should reform things here. Price controls cause artificial scarcity and there is valuable export market to US in pharma generics. Indian market cap and innovation could use more price signalling to climb the value ladder more anyway.
After a certain point, if you need someone to hold your hands, you're not really that powerful or independent. The geopolitical reality is constantly changing the good guys today are bad guys tomorrow. Staying neutral allows a degree of independence. You can only remain neutral when you pick a side... When you play on all sides, that means you are with no one, hence no one is with you.
Completely trash of an assessment. He has combined facts with fiction to sound like an expert. The tweet below is a pretty accurate summary of India’s unique dilemma and downfall with the US.
The Indians have the correct approach to foreign relations and balance both sides, which the Pakistanis could learn from. They were in a similar situation during the Cold War and managed both sides adequately.
There is a Chinese story about the warring period between Han and Wei. A third king wanted to get involved, but his advisor advised him not to. The advisor relayed a story of a hunter who wanted to kill two tigers and was told by an associate not to intervene, as the mountain could only have one dominant tiger to rule; thus, the two tigers fought, one was injured, and the other was dead. Hence, the hunter came and killed the injured one and took both. India has the strategic patience and will not expend energy needlessly in a conflict with China.
The Indian's, while they do stupid things, are very shrewd people when it comes to survival and business; I have over 300 clients on the risk management side 95% being Indian, and I can testify that a Pakistani couldn't hold a candle to them, they are shrewd business man and women, and they are heavily involved in grass roots politics and decision making centers in the West to shield themselves back home.
but we did reap benifits of both sides.
And we will continue reaping benifits on both sides into the future too.
