Americans got tired of Indians telling them who they can have dealings with. Last QUAD meeting, Jaishanker was trying to lecture the Americans meanwhile they were funding the Ukraine war and fully in bed with Russia.

It would have been better for India not to lecture others and keep quiet and not demand the benefits from an alliance with the US.

They are so hurt they are running to China who they have major border disputes with and who they promised to challenge and destroy. Such is their desperation.

Imagine the last 25 years like an elastic band that's being pulled back with more tension and built up potential energy added over time..... Now the elastic band is being released .

The foreign ministers comments are just foolish right now, India has acted and voted in the UN like a global North nation, it cannot suddenly remember it's colonial past when it suits

The very fact that Indian moved so quickly to China, will lead the Americans to think ...well these guys are no good to us, they were stringing USA along, or that if the US needs to utilize India, it need to do so with much much more force


The Chinese will kind of just be observing and watching and learning

More developed and richer Nations kind of rushed in early and effectively paid their entrance fee..... Japan, South Korea, the gulf Nations, EU, Vietnam....... They all promised hundreds of billions at the US.


I'm not aware of what the most generous aspect India is offering

If India stop thinking like a baniya then this shouldn't be a big deal. Some of exports to USA can be shifted elsewhere. It will not be easy for USA to replace IT imports, these are slowly getting replaced by AI anyway.

After initial shock, India will depend less on USA in 10 years. GDP growth will suffer but its not the end of the world, plus Modi have made India's GDP controversial so some correction is needed.

If India doesn't surrender then USA market will be taken by likes of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka. Does India really want its neighbours to prosper economically? Not really. So baniya will be in 2 minds. Strategic autonomy or how to bully small neighbours with USA on its back.

Aug 16 (Reuters) - A planned visit by U.S. trade negotiators to New Delhi from August 25-29 has been canceled, delaying talks on a proposed bilateral trade agreement, Indian business and financial news network NDTV Profit reported on Saturday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Amid a strain in economic ties because of the increased tariff, a planned visit by a US team to India for trade negotiations from August 25 to 29 has been cancelled and is likely to be rescheduled, sources told NDTV Profit on Saturday.

The team was supposed to carry forward negotiations on the bilateral trade agreement between the countries, which is especially important now, given US President Donald Trump's announcement of a 25% levy on Indian goods over Russian oil imports, in addition to the 25% tariffs he had imposed before.

Nope, they definitely insulting you and your Government is unable to respond to them for fear of Donal Trump taking the Indian leadership to the cleaners.

The fact that your country is being treated by the US as irrelevant, when you thought you were too important for the white man, must be really hurting your little egos.

When China announced counter tariffs and sanctioned rare earths... it hurt US more. India is playing in US hands... US lost appetite for making India a counterweight on its dime... cutting off Indian access to US markets is IN orange interest, a tangible that can be shown as reflection of success.
Only if India had something to offer in lieu... in this case he wants the house. Of course India will balk at that... it is counterintuitive to everything India had gotten itself used to...
In fact, the failure of peace deal with Russia, which included removal of sanctions on Russian oil, will pave the way for harsher tariffs. For orange India remains the low hanging fruit.

Do something about that if you can... instead taking it on the chin... which everyone knows you are... not a trophy... but I guess Indians will gulp it right up...

Bending forward to others isn't our cup of tea.
India as on now lacks any capability to retaliate to the economic sanctions. Accepting them is far better than to sacrifice our farmers and their interest.
