India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

It won’t kill things, it will result in economic boom, lower cost of living with more homes, less traffic, more economic opportunities.
Cost of living has actually increased in Trump's rule.

Everything Trump has done has increased cost of living. And you are hoping that there will be economic boom. People have less to spend because of the current increased cost of living. He was going to decrease costs on day one. The opposite has happened. You cannot get an economic boom in a consumer economy if people's purchasing power decreases.

The republican party is funded by businesses. Not by the unemployed. If Trump tries to decrease outsourcing or visas, that is where the push back is going to come from. He could also risk corporate inversion.

@Ali_Baba

Moving a job to IND is worse than hiring a H1B.

In the latter case, the employee pays taxes to GoUS and also spends in the American economy. In the latter case, everything is gone. Not that we would be complaining....

I disagree. Moving a role to India is globalisation. Replacing a local hire by firing them to hire a H1B is not globalisation ...

@Ali_Baba

I got that. But why is it better to "globalise" jobs to IND

Regards

Because the point of globalisation is to seek lower cost places of doing work where it is more efficient.

If the "role" still requires a physical presence in the USA to do, then it is not globalisation, but salary arbitrage and to me that is fundamentally wrong.

@Ali_Baba

That makes sense. But with advent of tech, wouldn't MNCs try to accelerate globalisation in case "salary arbitrage" is discouraged by fiat?
