India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

It is all about economics. The discount on Russian crude has been shrinking anyway. So, this was always going to be a piece on the negotiating table. India has made its point that it will act in national interest and, frankly, having exports to US get tariffed an extra 25% for a few bucks discount on Russian crude does not make economic sense and is not in the national interest.

I said when this Lazer eyes tug of war started with Trump that eventually India will do with Russian oil what they did with Iranian oil.
No, you can’t compare Russia with Iran.

Just to remind you — Pakistan was among the first countries to abandon Iran under pressure from the USA, while India was one of the last to do so.

For India, the relationship with Russia is more important than oil. India is never going to abandon Russia for anyone.

Whatever benefits us economically and strategically, we will do it..

Then why are you bending your position per Trump's demands? Nation's have a proper position in relations. I guess Israel and India are now exceptions for full deceit.

A prostitute goes wherever the money is.

:ROFLMAO: Pakistan built an entire oil and gas pipeline with Iran while Iran was under sanctions. We were left with a 30 meter piece on the border to complete it and then gas will flow directly into Pakistan.

We've never abandoned Iran. In the most recent Israel and the US war with Iran, we sat in front of Trump and told him we can't abandon Iran.

Unlike India and Israel, we don't sell out our national position and policy for money or for interests and deceive others like you've done to the US and the West for economic benefits to fight China and when those benefits slowed down, you made Xi your new daddy!

Putin is not India's damaad that India will blindly stick its neck out for him. India has made a point that it will support Russia and bought Putin time to capture more territory in Ukraine before negotiating a peace, but if Putin has no plans to end the war he started, why should India, which has been asking him to end the war for years, be the only one taking a hit ? Its not like Putin is offering a $20/barrel discount on the oil.

so basically asking for ceasefire was also an economic & strategic move....why did you jump in war with Pakistan in first place?

Because we felt like it and it served our purpose, do we need to justify ourselves

It has started to appear through various media channels that India has started to take actions on American demands especially on black marketed Russian oil. In a surprised act, Adani group that operates Indian ports banned any Western sanctioned ship carrying Russian oil. Sources in media have said that whether openly or behind closed doors, India will apologise to Trump. India has a nearly $ 46 billion trade relationship with the US that's positive in India's favor. India can't afford to damage that relationship.

Indian FDI has dropped nearly 96% this year as well as slow down on tech jobs coming to India so India can't afford to damage relations with Trump.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India's largest private port operator, Adani Group, has banned entry of tankers that are sanctioned by Western countries at all of its ports, three sources said and documents show, a move that could hit Russian oil supplies for two Indian refiners.

Adani did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

India is the biggest buyer of Russian seaborne oil, mostly shipped on tankers that are sanctioned by the European Union, the United States and Britain.

HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd, which operates a 226,000-barrels per day Bathinda refinery in northern Punjab state, gets all of its crude supplies at Adani's Mundra Port in western Gujarat state.

Adani is a private group. They can do whatever they want. Indian state controlled entities are increasing the intake. Western media on every odd day is stating India is ramping up oil purchases and on even day saying India is acceding to Trump.

Pick a lane lol. It's just stale news cycle. india - US trade talk is still stuck, a US designation will visit India soon. Putin will visit in December.
