They are only just putting out tenders for subsystems but at the same time MK2 is "near completion" am I reading that right?

As if only one prototype is to be built for each and all with have same internal LRUs and components
They released a tender few months back for components of PV2 proto.

Which is why i asked if anyone has any idea about the fresh tenders. Especially who floated the tender, I think ADA did since AMCA is also involved. They floated one last month.

What is driving this? You would have thought that the current production rate is in line with the current size of the fleet? Are there more Su30KI's being procured? Will India buy Su57E with the same engines as the Su30MKI ? (odd if they do ).

Russian engines don't really have as high engine lives as western engines do and also have higher rates of MTBF and lower MTBO even if they are cheaper to procure. For a fleet size of 270 aircrafts (including 12 on order), this is necessary to have them in stockpile as spares, replace the older engines and rotate them more often. MiG-29 fleet in India is quite small at 55+, yet their engines are license made in India because RD-33 is much worse in terms of engine life, and its derivative RD-93 is worse than even RD-33 but generates a lot more thrust and hence F404 was chosen instead of the RD-33/93 series for LCA even if the engines were made here.

Even Bangladeshi MiG-29 fleet is grounded due to engine issues related to obsolescence.

True - but would that not already have been factored into the manufacturing rate ? Either someone got their math wrong on the replacement pipeline, or something has or is changing?
