I am a software engineer. I don't want to generalize Indians too much in American workforce because there can be good or bad. My first experience with Indian colleagues happened a few years ago: The small company I was working at was bought by a larger Indian-owned company. I knew my days were numbered right there. Anyway, with the new company came new Indian overlords. One was assigned to guide me to some of their software. It was unimaginably buggy and horrible--unimaginably! I worked on fixing bugs and documenting the software's issues. But it was hard dealing with one of the new Indian overlords due to his raspy tongue and thick accent: 'Circuit' was 'sirrr kweet' as an example and the guy had been living in America for years. One day we had some argument where I just could'nt take it anymore and I wrote my Two Week Notice and they let me go the same afternoon. No worries: I have very crafted my life to take shocks but not abuses. After I left, that evening a white American VP of the original company called me and apologized and said he too was abused but he had to hold his tongue in front of the new overlords because he has a family to take care of (unlike me).
There was similar issue with an Indian professor who drove everyone crazy--white or not--because he was connected to some higher ups. Of course his particular wrath was reserved for me. I refused to work on his projects.

There is certainly some attitude issues with many Indians when they come to position of authority!
