Indians Bragging about Scamming Food Banks in Canada

I am asking him about that US veteran housing post.

I am asking you whether you collect food at a food bank since you support your scamming Indian brethren in Canada who also happen to collect food at food banks.

Don't dodge the question.

Unlike you, Canadian universities and local governments do not differentiate based on immigration status on things ear-marked for student use.

A student welfare service/subsidy usually available in Canada for all students.

BTW, not just Indian, students of ALL ethnicity use those services, including german. German students in Canada get subsidized bus passes in city buses, they also get food from student food bank.

There are community food banks for poors and they do not allow students to avail their charity.
You consistently argue by explaining what IS happening, while your concern was regarding the OUTRAGE (i.e. people's perception of what SHOULD happen). I have explained quite logically why the outrage exists. Also, there is no question regarding the reality of what happens - there is ample evidence of the poverty that Indian students find themselves in here in UK, for reasons beyond my comprehension given the fact that they should have arrived here comfortably above a strictly assessed budgetary threshold.

Food banks are charitable projects.

The question lingers - why should those who have arrived in a country on a means tested visa for a fixed period of time be allowed to access a service for someone in such a state of poverty that free food is needed?

Did that person fraudulently declare their financial means prior to application?

Also, you keep attempting conflation of several issues by discussing bus passes etc. Nobody is actually bringing up bus passes but you. Domestic students' families have spent their lives and livelihoods contributing to a state welfare pot, one way or another. International students' families have not.

I would argue that International students should also pay full value for their bus passes, now that you mention it.

The answer is simple. They arrived in Canada as STUDENTS. So as students they are expected to have a certain life style and hence certain expense profile, for which they are means tested. Students live in residence halls or economical and often shared residences and avail economical means of meals and travel -- including subsidized bus passes and university run food banks.

The visa means test takes that into consideration when they set the expense level. It is by design.

The folks who are outraging are wrong because the money to support these are not really coming from their own pocket, even in form of taxes. Food banks in universities are run by university funds and donations from businesses as a part of their own charity programs -- often in form of food items that are near expiry. This is not public money!

The ones outraging are ill-informed or plain racist.

stop the whattaboutism, seriously.

The videos posted online are of the Food Banks which are for the poor, and those which are NOT university-run, and you see your filthy ones standing in lines and even mocking people and then making it online into video and encouraging others to do the same scam.

That's pathetic on the indians and it further degrades your so-called izzat amongst the locals, but i guess you guys just stopped caring?

Then you wonder why the entire world hates you lot, but its your own doing.

ALL international students are expected to be able to afford themselves a place to live, their food and other necessities from their own funds, not from food banks or taking away locals jobs.

You have at different points said the "outrage" is "ill informed", "plain racist", or "fake" in separate conversations you have had on this thread to keep forum goers occupied in some bizarre attempt at misdirection. I am going to demonstrate to you now why the outrage is actually NONE of the above.

The outrage is evidence based, targeted at a certain group because of said evidence, and very real.

We live in the west, like you. We are all fully cognisant of what the usual criteria are for utility of student food banks. We are also aware of the immigration requirements for a regular student visa. Did you think these nations are in the business of welcoming beggars to their countries?

University of Galway, Ireland, earlier this year where students were turned away from the food bank because of exhausted inventory. What do you notice about the queue of students, supposedly arriving in Ireland with a verified income assessment prior to student visa issue?

Why are other international students not prevalent in these food bank queues, who will obviously encounter the same living cost pressures here in the west but also will have demonstrated the EXACT SAME income threshold as Indian students to support their original application?

Why do you think those looking at these pictures are wondering if the students from China, Korea and the Middle East probably told the truth on their visa applications while the Indians either (a) lied regarding their income on their visa application, (b) are presently lying that they cannot afford groceries while cynically standing in these queues for free food and tampons, or (c) BOTH of the above?

Do you not think this behaviour is enough to cause genuine outrage?

Lots more pictures doing the rounds. Holler if you want some more.
