PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) stated that it is still developing the Black Eagle Medium Altitude Long Endurance Unmanned Aircraft (PUNA MALE) which was once included in the national research priority list. The Black Eagle PUNA MALE is a combat drone type unmanned aircraft which until the end of 2021 was still being worked on by a large consortium of the Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian Air Force, PTDI, Bandung Institute of Technology, PT Len Industri, and the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space.
"Currently the development phase is in the stage for the first flight trial," said PTDI Production Director, Batara Silaban, on the sidelines of the PTDI and Ministry of Defense media gathering at the PTDI hangar in Bandung, Friday, September 27, 2024.
Batara did not specify when the flight test was scheduled. He only said that he was trying to complete the calculations. "Of course, according to the plan, we hope it can be flown in the not too distant future," he said.
