Indonesian Aerospace N219 plane

There should be sea plane port between Banyuwangi in East Java with Bali. It can catch foreign tourist in Bali to visit Banyuwangi which has beautiful forest.

Jakarta, IDM – After CN235, the domestically made N219 Nurtanio aircraft sold well in the ASIAN market. It was recorded that in November 2023, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) agreed to collaborate with Linkfield Technologies for the sale of 25 units of N219 aircraft at The Aero Asia 2023.

"The aircraft will be equipped with certain configurations tailored to the operational needs of end users. A total of 5 units were ordered for Bandung Airlines Co.Ltd, an airline company in China, and 20 units for leasing companies in China," wrote a PTDI statement as quoted from detik Friday, (5/4).

This achievement is a testament to the capabilities of the Indonesian aircraft industry, which realizes a combination of innovation and practicality. In Indonesia alone, PTDI won the first contract for six N219.

PTDI has signed a contract with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) for six N219 Nurtanio twin-turboprop aircraft. This contract is worth 68 million US dollars. The N219 purchased by the Ministry of Defense will be operated by the Indonesian Army Puspenebad.

The N219 itself is designed as a twin-engine transport aircraft with 19 seats, this aircraft has a variety of capabilities designed to meet the demands of modern military operations.

Reporting from Kompas based on the lyrics of the PTDI website, the N219 aircraft is the most suitable mode of transportation to open up, increase people's economic growth, and maintain the defense and security of remote areas.

The N219 aircraft is a new generation multipurpose aircraft designed to carry 19 passengers with the largest cabin area in its class. The cargo capacity reaches 2,313 kilograms.

The aircraft engine is proven and efficient with 2 Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of Canada Limited PT6A-42 aircraft with 850 SHP each. The N219 aircraft's avionics system uses a Garmin G1000 NXi glass cockpit. (rr)

Based on Defense ID ( parent company of Indonesian Aerospace) 2025-2029 strategic plan, they want to have another N219 production facility.

I wonder whether Indonesian Aerospace previous plan to have another production facility outside current Bandung complex will be materialized.

Very possible location is in Kertajati which is close to newest West Java airport.

They also want to add more MRO facility, so we will see whether plane production complex will be split between Bandung (Military plane including fighter jet, military transport of CN235/ NC212 i and UCAV/ UAV) and Kertajati with civilian plane (N219 basic, N219 Amphibious, civilian plane MRO business line, and possibly R80 and N245 civilian plane programs).

Insya Allah (God willing), in 2024 we can produce the amphibious aircraft.
Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) -

State-owned aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) is targeting to build an amphibious aircraft that can take off and land on water as well as solid ground by 2024.

PT DI’s director of technology and development, Gita Amperiawan, said the company is currently developing the technology to produce the amphibious aircraft.

"Pak Budi (Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi) asked by when we could finish it. We said, Insya Allah (God willing), in 2024 we can produce the amphibious aircraft," he said here on Friday.

Earlier, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi had said that Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, would need amphibious aircraft to connect remote islands.

PT DI said it began planning to produce the amphibious aircraft after its N219 aircraft received the type certification for commercial production.

The amphibious aircraft would connect remote islands and speed up development of the tourism sector in Indonesia as it can be landed directly on the beach in tourist areas, PT DI president director Elfien Goentoro said.

"It can land everywhere in tourist destinations, and our country has 17 thousand islands," Goentoro remarked.

Earlier, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas had said it has collaborated with the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN) and PT DI to develop an amphibious version of the N219 aircraft.

The move is part of efforts to make the aviation industry self-reliant, it added. Variants of the amphibian N219 aircraft have been developed to meet national needs in outermost islands, areas that have maritime tourism potential, or rivers and lakes, where it is relatively difficult to construct airfields, it informed. Indonesian Aerospace is focused on boosting sales of its N219 twin-turboprop, as it seeks to grow its capabilities through military offset work.

Based on Indonesian sources, 6 new N219 that will be produced for Indonesian Army, one of them is Amphibious version.

These 6 N219 from my interpretation will likely be N219 improved version, better performance than the first 2 flying prototypes. They need to improve the performance because N219 Amphibious need to carry more load with its 2 floaters.

So this N219 Amphibious program will not only produce N219 Amphibious that can land both in hard surface and water, but also will improve N219 Basic so that it can better compete with the same category planes from USA, Canada, and China. InshaAllah.

Before the planes handed to Indonesian Army, they need to pass military certification first, the first plane for Army is planned to be handed in the end of 2027.

From other industry insider, it is reported that the contract is actually not yet effective, and expected to be an effective contract in 2025.

Local logistic company buy 10 N219 basic and 2 NC 212 for logistic use. N219 delivery is expected at 2027.

More detail will be given if contract is signed. At the moment it is still MOU.

IDXChannel - A logistics service company, PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal, officially purchased 12 aircraft produced by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI). The details are two units of NC 212i and ten N219 aircraft.

According to President Director Yasa Artha Trimanunggal Yenna Yuniana, the purchase of 12 aircraft from the Holding member of the Defense Industry SOE (Defend ID) was carried out after it acquired the pioneering airline, PT Semuwa Aviasi Mandiri aka Sam Air.

According to her, the acquisition of Sam Air shares and the purchase of 12 fleets is an important step because Yasa Artha Trimanunggal got a government mandate to distribute food commodities in remote areas in Indonesia.

"The acquisition of Sam Air and strategic cooperation with PT Dirgantara Indonesia is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to continue to support government programs in improving national food security," said Yenna Yuniana through a press statement on Sunday (11/14/2024).

"We hope that, through the acquisition and development of this fleet, we can ensure the distribution of food to areas that are difficult to reach, providing nutritious food access to all Indonesian people, without exception," she said.

She ensured, the partnership with PTDI is the first step of a larger series of strategic cooperation that can strengthen the air transport ecosystem, especially supporting national food security.

The purchase of dozens of aircraft was marked by the signing of the Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) between the two entities, Friday (22/11/2024).

Sam Air President Director Agus Priyanto ensures that the purchase of aircraft will expand pioneering aviation services, especially supporting food distribution.

The delivery of the NC 212i aircraft is planned in March 2025, while the N219 aircraft is scheduled to arrive by mid-2027. (Wahyu Dwi Anggoro)

Why Indonesian Aerospace want to develop N219 ? It is to get Twin Otter market. How many Twin Otter that is currently flying ? Huge. Mostly already old.

But there is serius competitor from US company who develop Cessna Skycourier with first flight several years after N219 first flight.
