South Korea–Indonesia Agree to Cooperate on KF-21 Fighter Jet Mass Production

Relations upgraded to “Special Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”
President Lee Jae-myung: “K-defense industry values Indonesia as an important partner”President Lee Jae-myung of South Korea and President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia held a summit on the 1st at the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae). The two countries agreed to elevate their relationship to a “Special Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”
During the summit, the two leaders agreed to cooperate on the mass production of the IF-21, the Indonesian version of South Korea’s KF-21 supersonic fighter jet.
KF-21 joint development nearing completion
The leaders expressed satisfaction that the KF-21/IF-21 joint development project—ongoing for over 10 years—is expected to be completed by June. They agreed to cooperate on the mass production of the IF-21.

President Prabowo Subianto officially handed over a number of new defense equipment to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) on Monday (18/5), including 6 Dassault Rafale fighter jet units.
This fleet strengthening is also equipped with 4 Dassault Falcon 8X units, 1 Airbus A400M MRTT unit, as well as the GM403 GCI Radar system and various other supporting defense equipment.
This step is part of efforts to modernize national defense to strengthen the TNI's combat readiness and deterrence capability amid regional geopolitical dynamics.
