TNI AU Presents F-16 Simulator in Indo Defence 2025, Visitors: Impressive and Immersive

Jakarta, IDM – Air Force (TNI AU), through the Air Force Information Service (Dispenau), again participated in the largest defense exhibition in Southeast Asia, Indo Defence 2025 Expo & Forum held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta on June 11 to 14, 2025.
In this year’s participation, the TNI AU again offers a flying experience with an F-16 fighter simulator for visitors.
Pranata and Diki Halim become two visitors who have the opportunity to try directly the simulator. Both agreed, what was presented by the Indonesian Air Force was something that was impressive because the public could have been a fighter pilot.

"I am really happy that there is an opportunity given from the Air Force to the general public to try this simulator, so I can know how to fly one of Indonesia's proud aircraft now, namely (warplanes) F-16," said Pranata, a graduate of International University Liaison Indonesia, when met by the editor of Indonesia Defense Magazine at the Dispenau booth, Friday (13/6).
Appreciation was conveyed by Diki Halim, a student of Bunda Mulia University. Through this simulator, he said, the public can know that to mane a fighter is not easy, because it takes adequate experience and skills.

“This simulator can give immersive a sense to people who want to try or who are curious about how to drive a fighter. So, I was quite fascinated and stunned because I saw the accuracy that approached the original," Diki explained.
Then, other visitors who have tried the mission 'Dogfight' with this simulator is Syakir. He hopes that the TNI AU can become a more modern air force and further in the future. "I also hope that the Indonesian Air Force can educate the community through various experiences like this, where experiences like this can introduce and show the technology that is usually used by the Indonesian Air Force to the community," concluded Syakir who is currently still studying at the University of Pancasila.
In addition to the F-16 fighter simulator, the Indonesian Air Force also presents technology and other excellent devices such as Virtual Maintenance Training (VMT) from the Skadik 302 Wing 300 / Tek, as well as the Transmission Data Air Situation (TDAS) platform owned by the National Air Operations Command (Koopsudnas) which presents real-time air situation data.
Meanwhile, the elite force of the Indonesian Air Force, namely the Rapid Motion Force Command (Kopasgat) showed a variety of combat equipment and weaponry that reflected their high readiness in carrying out operations.
Not to forget, the Air Force Research and Development Office (Dislitbangau) also comes with a variety of technological innovations, including FTB VTOL Aircraft, Multitester Motor, Bomb TAG 81 Practice, Bomb BLM 33, as well as Flight Control X-Plane simulation that describes the research and development capabilities of the Indonesian Air Anevolential Anevolability technology. 48 KF21/IFX deal is not MOU level anymore, it is actually a contract that has been signed since 2014 before the start of EMD phase in 2016

What is signed several days ago is CONTRACT AMANDEMENT where Indonesian financial contribution is decreased, but 48 IFX acquisition from Indonesian side and Indonesian Aerospace participation in the KF21/IFX program remained firmed.
When the plane is ready to be ordered ? Of course it needs time for Indonesian Aerospace to develop Indonesian version (IFX) and prepare the manufacturing line in Indonesian Aerospace
Will Indonesia order just 48 IFX ? Well according to me is unlikely, minimum IMO is 100 planes as Indonesia has production line in Indonesian Aerospace and the STEALTH design give KF21 possibility to be upgraded into 5 generation and even beyond it ( Man and UnMen Team up = KF21 and 5 Wingman Stealth Drone)
KF21 5th prototype is intended to be used by Indonesian Aerospace to continuously upgrade KF21/IFX over time like for example F16 keep being upgraded from its first operation in 1970's

KAI and Indonesia’s state-owned company PTDI agreed to concretize, expand, and strengthen their strategic cooperation covering everything from production to marketing for the practical implementation of IF-X mass production, including establishing and maintaining production and final assembly facilities, as well as maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO).
During his meeting with Teddy Rizali Hadi, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force, Commissioner Seok also explained the current status and excellence of the KF-21’s development and reached a consensus that introducing the IF-X in the future would contribute to strengthening Indonesia’s air power.

Indonesian, S Korean pilots test fly KF-21 Boramae jet

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) conducted a test flight of the KF-21 Boramae, a supersonic fighter jet developed jointly by Indonesia and South Korea, last week, Air Force spokesperson Air Commodore I Nyoman Suadnyana has confirmed.
According to an official press release on Thursday, the test flight took place on June 27, 2025.
“The strategic partnership between Indonesia and South Korea in developing a 4.5-generation fighter jet reached a major milestone with the successful test flight of the KF-21 Boramae prototype,” Suadnyana said in the statement.
He added that the flight was carried out by Indonesian Air Force pilot Colonel Ferrel Rigonald and South Korean pilot Koh Hwi Seok.
The test was conducted at Sacheon Air Base in South Korea. During the flight, Rigonald occupied the front seat while Koh sat in the rear.
“The aircraft took off at 9:45 a.m. local time and performed a series of test maneuvers at an altitude of 20 thousand feet for about one hour,” Suadnyana informed.
The successful test flight is a significant achievement in the collaboration between Indonesia and South Korea in military aviation technology and human resource development.
Through the joint program, the Indonesian Air Force is expected to strengthen its air defense capabilities.
“The KF-21/IF-X program not only offers technical advantages but also reinforces Indonesia’s position as a key partner in the development of advanced defense systems based on innovation and self-reliant defense industries,” he added.
