Ministry of Defense and PT DI discuss the progress of the KFX/IFX fighter jet program

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Defense (Ministry of Defense) of the Republic of Indonesia and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) discussed the progress of the Indonesian and South Korean cooperation fighter (KFX/IFX) KF-21 Boramae, which is one of the 10 priority programs of the national defense industry.
At the Office of the Ministry of Defense, Jakarta, Friday, President Director of PT DI Gita Amperiawan reported the development of the program to the Acting (Plt.) Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia Maj. Gen. Tri Budi Utomo.
"The point in this program, Indonesia, especially the national defense industry, must be of maximum benefit," said Gita Amperiawan when contacted in Jakarta on Friday, answering questions about the content of the meeting in the Ministry of Defense.
PT DI, in the KFX/IFX program, is a defense industry appointed by the Government of Indonesia as a beneficiary of the assets (IIP) of the prototype KF-21 Boramae fighter jet.
Plt. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, in an official broadcast of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense confirmed in Jakarta, Friday, said he would immediately report to the leadership about the progress of the KFX / IFX program.
"Thank you Mr. Gita, we have got all input and we will report it soon. Hopefully get a positive response," said Plt. Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense to the Director of PT DI in the meeting.
The Indonesian Ministry of Defense as the representative of the Government of Indonesia adjusts its contribution to the cooperation project to build KF-21 fighter aircraft made by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) with the Government of South Korea. The contribution given by Indonesia also to the KFX / IFX project is currently 600 billion won or around Rp6.95 trillion from the initial commitment of 1.6 trillion won or around Rp18.5 trillion.
Regarding the adjustment, Gita said PT DI is currently focused on preparing its ability to participate in mass production of 4.5 KFX/IFX/KF-21 Boramae.
"It has to be serious in the future we have the ability in the field of prouction of
Fighter aircraft. So, whatever the program is in various types of assets, the goal is only one, how PT DI is able in the future to build
Fighter," said Gita Amperiawan when met at his office, Bandung, West Java, September 27, 2024.
He continued PT DI aim to engage in final assembly, test flight, certification, then maintenance and repair (MRO) KF-21 Boramae fighter jets the result of the cooperation of RI-South Korea (KFX/IFX) when the prototype of the aircraft entered the mass production stage.
“PT DI is preparing to be able to. That was the first one. Second, PT DI needs to compile all achievements with that cost so that the costs that have been incurred by the government for this KFX program are indeed useful (
worthy). Our accountability to the nation from budget spending for KFX is being prepared," said Gita Amperiawan.
In a separate opportunity, Head of the Bureau of Public Relations of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia TNI Brigadier General of TNI Adrian Sumantha when asked about the KFX / IFX of the assets received by Indonesia after the adjustment of the contribution said the Government of the Republic of Indonesia is currently negotiating the cooperation between the technology of the fighter making cooperation project after the adjustment.
