In any case, Pakistan needs to get more fighters and replace older fighters. Producing a truly advanced version of the JF-17 would be better, and Pakistan's ability to fly itself would prevent Chinese restrictions. China itself does not want Pakistan to have an advanced product that competes with Chinese fighter sales, and this is natural. Perhaps this is the reason for not developing the JF-17 with capabilities that compete with fighters such as the JAS-39E/F. Local development means reducing the cost, and international cooperation will be present. There is cooperation in subsystems with many countries. It is not necessary to have a complete product, but parts that may be suitable for other fighters or for other fighter development programs. Pakistan's spending more money on research and development has good results for the level of exports in general. Pakistan's development of guided missiles has led to the creation of international customers, as well as cooperation with other countries that provide Pakistan with some development and returns from that. Even countries like that in the eighties, China produced poor products with modest performance. Gradually, it developed. Pakistani local development also prevents unfair conditions for exporting fighters. There are no real friends because the seller wants The maximum benefit is to exploit the customer's inability to produce it independently or the availability of local technology. Also, Pakistan has an advanced version of the fighters in order to improve the terms of negotiations for the purchase or development of fighters from sources such as Turkey, China or Russia. Therefore, we find some people mocking Pakistan or criticizing the program for fear of their country's exports of fighters to Pakistan, not because Pakistan's development program or its fighters are not well equipped. Also, the availability of a good fighter in Pakistan will reduce the volume of imports of fighters from other countries and encourage the development of other systems and aircraft and the implementation of fighter missions at a lower cost. Also, Pakistan's export of fighters will be greater in the case of a more advanced product that meets the needs of countries.Yes, something like the KFX program.....but way less ambitious.
IMHO I don't think either the Turks or the Saudis will be interested in this project.
Turkish aviation industry is already too far ahead of us to gain anything relevant by investing in this project.
They would probably prefer to complement/pair their KAAN fighter with a stealthy UCAV than a light manned aircraft.
The Saudis would also not be interested in acquiring a light fighter.
IMO PAF should have focused on developing stealthy UCAVs instead. Those would have made more sense given the current state state of our aviation industry & the funds we can realistically allocate to its development.

Seems so. They tries frontal fy5 mounts but those increased weight by a good 5 tons. The featured turret also shows era plates atop roof.Seems like Ak would get ERA package for the sides as well...

Finally a decent midrange local radar. Been waiting for that. We've had a few locally built SR radars but lacked this.Pakistan unveiled indigenously developed AM-350S long-range 3D surveillance AESA radar jointly developed by NRTC & Blue Surge Tech, at IDEAS 2024.
AM-350S has a range of 350 kilometers & incorporates cutting-edge AESA technology.
This marks a major milestone in Pakistan's Journey towards indigenization, self-reliance and defense innovations, highlighting Pakistan's growing capabilities in electronic warfare (EW) system.
