Iran announces visa-free policy for Indian tourists for up to 15 days

Iran has officially implemented a visa-free policy for Indian tourists, which came into effect on February 4. This strategic move is aimed at fostering cultural exchanges and boosting the tourism sector in Iran.

Indian nationals with ordinary passports can now enter Iran without a visa, provided they arrive by air. The visa exemption allows for a stay of up to 15 days, which cannot be extended, and is applicable once every six months.

"Individuals holding ordinary passports will be allowed to enter the country without a visa once every six months, with a maximum stay of 15 days," the embassy said in a statement. It's crucial to emphasize that the 15-day period cannot be extended, the embassy clarified.

The visa-free entry is exclusively for tourism purposes, meaning those traveling for business or educational reasons must still obtain a visa under the respective categories. It's important to note that this policy only applies to air travelers; Indian citizens who wish to travel to Iran by road are required to secure a visa beforehand.

Iran's decision to waive visa requirements aligns with similar measures taken for other countries, including Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Oman, China, Armenia, Lebanon, and Syria.

With this new policy, Iran aims to revive its tourism industry and strengthen its relationship with India, which has been identified as one of the fastest-growing markets for outbound tourism.

Indian tourists planning to take advantage of this visa-free policy should ensure they meet all the eligibility criteria and understand the conditions set forth by the Iranian authorities.

Tourists to Iran like colonel Kulbhushan Jadhav's ' terror activities for Pakistan’
Tourist is a tourist.

Regardless, hopefully this drives greater travel between citizens of the two countries. Indians rarely travel to Iran and vice-versa. Hopefully this increases people to people engagement.

It try to capitalize the fact that Indian tourist is decreasing in Western develop nation as their restrict Indians who wants to go their countries using Tourist Visa ( fear they will end up as illegal immigrants)

This is base on real fact latest data

Yeah, nope. Just for US and UK, and you are free to compare with other large developing and even developed countries rebound after covid shutdown years (ref IND report in 3rd link w.r.t outbound ~ pg 210):

No, despite the news of countries stopping immigrants, outbound tourism from India to the west is increasing. The biggest pull has surprisingly been the US, which is issuing record number of tourist visas.

Asian countries are also trying to pull in tourists to boost their economy. In the last 2-3 years many countries have reduced their visa requirements or removed visa altogether and by just needing an ETA for visitors from India. South East Asia has been doing this the most, example Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar provide visas on arrival, while Malaysia and Vietnam have e-visa, etc.

Not really. While some Indians have violated immigration rules in the West, travel has actually become easier for Indian tourists. Many countries are expanding their visa services in India— the US has significantly increased interview slots and is opening a new consulate in Bengaluru. Several countries now offer visa-on-arrival for Indian passport holders.

Perhaps you’re confusing India’s situation with Pakistan’s.

Hmmm....Iran. Indians really need to learn civility and civic sense before travelling anywhere..

To my Iranian brothers we may have our differences but we also have many places where we agree on something. Brah! No offense to the Indians of the forum by any means.

Let me speak freely.

This is too risky to allow so many indians into the land without Visa. Besides Iran is a relatively peaceful country and quite streets where people are well behaved and gentle believe me mann they don´t want any of that Indian noise and out of order and especially the rapists. india has rape problems you can´t allow unvetted rapists into the land.

Iran should honestly re-consider this as this is a bad idea?

Reach out to other "brothers" like Indonesia or Malaysia, while you are at it?

They aren't allowing similar ease of access to Pakistanis. Imagine, the Iranian government thinks its preferable to have loud and dirty Indians coming over than co-religionist Pakistanis.

That says volumes about what they think of Pakistanis (who seem to be oblivious to this) :ROFLMAO:

Same. They don't seem to want to give the same ease of access to Pakistanis as they do to Indians.
