but this is retarded, the US will not recognise it and lift the blockade even if Iran and the PGCC agree a deal, and all this does is depress oil prices

Dont fully agree.. Agreed that oil price may come down and that helps the Orange. However, there are pros too... if a deal is agreed it adds global and local political pressure on the fruit in a scenario oil price does not come down enough. People including the US citizens + Army itself will ask questions on what are they doing still hanging around trying to do a blockade... it is not a sure bet but every move has its risks and rewards.
