Iran says Israel launched "a widespread cyber war" against the country​

Iran’s Cyber Security Command said that Israel has launched “a widespread cyber war against the country’s digital infrastructure to disrupt the process of providing services to citizens,” Iran’s state-run news agency IRIB reported.

Measures had been taken to counter Israel’s “cyber war,” the report said. “So far many of these attacks have been successfully repelled.”

The measures were taken to prevent Israel “from penetrating cyber layers and preventing them from continuing to use the infrastructure to carry out cyber and military operations,” IRIB added.

Earlier, the country’s state-affiliated FARS news agency reported that a cyberattack has disrupted some of the services of Iran’s Bank Sepah. An Israel-linked hacking organization claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had “destroyed all of Bank Sepah’s data.”

President Donald Trump is growing increasingly warm to using US military assets to strike Iranian nuclear facilities and souring on the idea of a diplomatic solution to end the escalating conflict, two officials familiar with the ongoing discussions tell CNN.

The new, more hawkish posture represents a significant shift in Trump’s thinking, though the sources said Trump remains open to a diplomatic solution — if Iran makes significant concessions.

Over the weekend and into Monday, discussions among Trump administration officials had continued to center on trying to find a diplomatic solution to serve as an off ramp, sources familiar with the talks said.

But Trump signaled early today his patience for diplomacy was wearing thin. “I’m not too much in the mood to negotiate with Iran,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One returning early from the Group of 7 summit in Canada. He added that his objective in Iran was “an end, a real end, not a ceasefire,” or “giving up entirely.”

TEHRAN –Since the beginning of Israel’s airstrikes on Iran, the Law Enforcement Command in cooperation with the Ministry of Intelligence has managed to identify and arrest 28 agents linked to the Zionist regime.

Fifteen legal cases have been filed against these individuals at Tehran Security Court, IRIB reported.

With the beginning of the Zionist regime’s military invasion of the Iranian territory, the Law Enforcement Command issued a statement calling on the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police.

The suspects have been arrested in two separate operations, carrying more than 200 kilograms of explosives, 23 drones, launchers, guidance devices, and controllers in a vehicle.

Taking photos of military fortifications and prohibited places, spying, employing propaganda and media actions to approve the Zionist regime’s measures, selling hunting weapons without a license, illegally possessing weapons and ammunition, and joining opposition groups in the country with the aim of disrupting security are among their other crimes.

In one of the most important cases, in terms of wide range measures carried out, four defendants were captured and charged with ‘cooperation with hostile foreign governments’, carrying out extensive collaboration with Israel’s intelligence and military services, known as Mossad.

The collaborations include the establishment of a team house focused on training and practicing drone operations, maintaining various reconnaissance and suicide drones, launchers, training how to fly drones, determining and estimating the best route for conducting reconnaissance or suicide operations in order to take advantage of the current war conditions.

The organization affiliated with the Zionist regime provided technical training to individuals introduced to them by officers and equipped the operational field elements with information and tools for targeting operations.

Alireza Salimi, a member of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis), has said a double-urgency bill has been approved to increase punishment for individuals who cooperate with the Zionist regime and hostile governments, ISNA reported on Tuesday.

Government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said on Monday that at least 45 women and children have been martyred and another 75 injured in Israel’s acts of aggression on the country over the past days.

Mohajerani announced the figures in televised remarks on Monday, saying the civilian casualties show the Zionist regime’s false claim of targeting military sites, Press TV reported.

Esmail Fekri, a convicted spy who was found guilty of collaborating with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency and attempting to transmit classified information in exchange for money was executed.
The execution took place on Monday morning following the final approval of the death sentence by the Supreme Court.

I don't want to write something that will hurt the feelings of our shia brethren, but yes, they can't go against the fatwa given by an Ayatollah. And it is not possible to take back the fatwa too.

Anyway, I have very limited knowledge of the fatwa system in Shia islam, so can't comment on it further. For me, it was the most stupid fatwa I have ever heard from someone whose entire nation was living with an existential threat for decades.

There is a concept of taqlid of mujtahids (Ayatullahs) in Shia madhab. There are 3 marja e taqlid that shiites can follow and these are the major ones, Khamenei, Sistani and Bashir Hussain Najafi who is originally from Pakistan. One way to avoid a fatwa is to change your taqlid. Also fatwas can change in my opinion and should change depending on the dynamics involved. For example Pork and blood does become ‘halal’ at a point where your existence is threatened without it. Then again this is my limited understanding and I am not a scholar.

When will Iran reach the point of needing to declare full mobilisation ? The whole logic that Trump is relying on, is that this can be "self contained". A full mobilisation now will send the message to the world that this will engulf the entire middle east. That is a valuable pressure point for Iran in the war of narratives that may cause the USA to back off ?

Israeli Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter told CNN today that the US-provided missile defense systems, including THAAD, have helped save “hundreds perhaps thousands of lives” in Israel since Iran began its retaliatory missile attacks four days ago.

Here’s why the missile defense system is effective:

• The Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery is one of the US military’s most powerful anti-missile weapons, capable of intercepting ballistic missiles at ranges of 150 to 200 kilometers (93 to 124 miles) and with a near-perfect success rate in testing.
• Using a combination of advanced radar systems and interceptors, it is the only US missile defense system that can engage and destroy short-, medium-, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles both inside or outside the atmosphere during their terminal phase of flight — or dive on their target.
• THAAD interceptors are kinetic, meaning they take out incoming targets by colliding with them rather than exploding near the incoming warhead.

According to a report by the Congressional Research Service, the US military has seven THAAD batteries, each consisting of six truck-mounted launchers — with eight interceptors apiece — a powerful radar system and a fire control and communications component.

Through a broad command and control and battle management system, THAAD batteries can communicate with a range of US missile defenses, including Aegis systems — commonly found aboard US Navy ships — and Patriot missile defense systems that are designed to intercept shorter-range targets. Those other missile defense systems are more numerous than THAAD.
