China is entrenched in the Western economies and Chinese firms operate Israel's Haifa and Ashdod ports. It will therefore not be sanctioned, and Chinese also do not take well coercion.

I agree that Iran would need to heavily invest in the Chinese ecosystem. But that's just half the requirement. It will need to make commitments and concessions to China, including not sabotaging the Gwardar/CPEC hands-in with India/RAW, and perhaps even shifting Chabahar partnership to China.

If licking boots is your idea of being ‘clueful,’ then sure, China’s a genius. Favoring Arab regimes that collapse like dominoes and survive off U.S. protection, while snubbing Iran, a nation that resists the entire Western order isn’t strategy, it’s cowardice. What’s funnier is China claims it wants to rival the U.S., yet still bows to its puppets. That alone shows how tight the American leash is wrapped around Beijing’s neck.

So Judas in da Vinci's painting is the one with brown hair, elbow on the table, just knocked over a salt cup, holding a small bag of - presumably - money in his right hand (perhaps representing the silver pieces he betrayed Jesus to the Romans for).

That would mean, by my eye, Sisi of Egypt gets the role of Judas...like that would ever happen.

in return for 1 if we get full primary sanctions relief and US investment then it's not the end of the world

otherwise, 2 is the only logical action to protect Iran
