Trump has shown Machiavellian traits plenty of times. He constantly disrespects NATO and says they are nothing without him. He clearly has no respect for Zelensky, but openly admires Putin. He even said Soleimani was a genius. When Netanyahu said in a press conference that they should attack Iran now because they are weak, Trump immediately pushed back and said Iran is not weak, they are very powerful. After the 12-day war he indirectly praised Iranian missiles, saying they took out a lot of buildings and that Israel was getting hit really hard.

If you show Trump weakness, he will not respect you. He loves praise and power. That is why the move he reacts to is force plus flattery. Show power, hit back hard, but also frame him as a great commander with great weapons and push the idea that Iranians and Americand shouldn’t kill eachother.

He needs to hear that many Iranians will die because Trump is powerful and American weapons are the best. But many Americans will also die because Iranian weapons are second only to American weapons. I’m surprised Iranians haven’t figured this out yet.

I am serious:

It is up to Iran to send whatever message it wishes to send to USA, and then be able to work out a compromise if both sides can come to an agreement that can be implemented. What messages USA is sending is already quite clear.

What the room here wants to hear is only self-reinforcing echoes, and that is never right.

The key question to ask now is whether Iran feels stronger or weaker after crushing this uprising, especially economically.

Which genius’s idea was it to fight not one, but two nuclear armed genocidal states without having a single nuke?

Nukes are a last resort weapon. Pakistan has a powerful arsenal of nuclear weapons but we saw how many missiles India fired on Pakistan in May 2025. I don't think Iran having some nukes would prevent Israel-America from attacking Iran and neither does North Korea's 'nukes' prevent an attack on NK--it is the NK destroying Seoul and nearby American troops which is the deterrent for NK. Similarly, Iran had a credible deterrence in the form of militias targeting Israel from very close range and that lasted for decades until early 2025, in no small thanks to some Muslim countries' help dismantling the militias. Talk about a historic betrayal of Palestine!
Anyway, it is in the past. What needs to happen is Iran does some serious introspection about governance issues and strategically look east--toward Pakistan, Central Asia, and China and make relations with Turkey as good as possible. And also never let India in because Indians, under Modi, are inherently pro Israel and would only infiltrate spies into Iran.

The key for Iran, like I have always said for Pakistan as well, is having a robust and thriving economy, first and foremost. Any beggarly nation cannot remain stable for long, with or without nuclear weapons.
